Just while I'm thinkin' about it thought I would throw it out there - I know this event is typically close to the summer solstice, and the Ghost Town Run is happening the weekend of July 19-20. Our summer is pretty evenly spaced with events...maybe getting it a little early is not a bad thing. Last year we did it on June 27, so maybe we could look at July 9 or 16.

It's a Wednesday so it probably doesn't matter much which one we go with, but post up interest anyway!

Let's book it for Wednesday, July 9.

When I originally proposed this event, back in 2002 or 2003, it was in August. The next year, we moved it to July, where it stayed until last year. We moved it to June last year because July was chock full of events. This year, with the Rubithon in June, we should move it back to July.

We've held it on Slaughterhouse Gulch near Bailey since the beginning. We could go elsewhere if desired.

Blow Off Work And Go Wheeling Run (8th Annual)
Date: Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Meeting time: 1:30 pm depart at 2:00 pm

I see no reason to change anything from last year, it's always a great run at Slaughterhouse Gulch!

Meeting place: the new King Soopers Shopping Center
This is just off Hwy 285, a block east of where Coney Island was previously located.
KING SOOPERS
25637 CONIFER ROAD
CONIFER, CO 80433
Store Phone: 303-816-4960

Post-run pizza:
Crossroads Restaurant
16 Mt. Evans Blvd. (US-285/Pine Jct., the only stoplight on US-285.)
Pine, CO 80470
303-838-5558

What time we get to the pizza joint depends on how many people show up for the run, etc. I hope to be there by 7:30 p.m.

Okay, so who is coming? We have a little less than a month, it'd be nice to get a head count!

I'm in!

What do you think about taking the 100 on this trail? The only part I worry about is that tippy spot on the way back down. I seem to always scrape the roof of my 40 on that tree.

Yep that's the hard part - but maybe since the 100 is wider it can sneak further to the right and be stable? Seems like you have to hug that tree in a 40 because of stability issues - I've missed that tree with my hardtop on, but it was close. During the summer I'm glad to have a bikini top/rollbar at that spot ;)

Sounds like I might go that route and run the bikini top that week. :) Thanks for the tip!

I think you'll be fine. If you can run Spring Creek in that 100, Slaughterhouse should be a piece of cake.

Yeah no joke.

Sucks for you super wide LC guys. I've done the trail a couple dozen times in my 4runner, and never even come within a foot of that tree. I remember each time i went by wondering how the marks got there.

I guess now I know.

Taller and wider, that's what does it. I thought the same thing the first time I went by in my 40. You and I aren't very tall.

I'm in and bringing the boss :thumb:
This trail is manageable in my 4Runner with lift, correct?
