Haven't see one yet but I'm gonna say it's definitely cooler than the Leaf ;)

Yeah the Leaf isn't that cool for sure. But it does what it's asked every time... I'm starting to wonder if a 2nd EV is in our future here, should I sell off some Lexusisisisis and get us a better EV, make the boy drive the Leaf, etc. I'd like the next one to actually be comforable in the back seat, be more Lexus-like, etc. I just can't get behind a Tesla though, so seeing what else is out there... this Ionic seems most intriguing so far.

Tim, we just bought an X5 45e. Stupid expensive, but 30 miles of electric range and another 400+ on the turbocharged inline 6. Think of it as an EV in town and a real car when you need it. :ROFLMAO: They can be had for a little under MSRP, unlike the Hyundai. (Oh, and it still qualifies for $7500 (fed) and $2500 (CO) of y'all's money going into my pocket. Thanks!!)

I didn't want to jinx it earlier :)

My daughter Sarah and her Husband Jacob just picked up their Ioniq 5 today. Looks pretty nice.

They got the RWD version as the range is 50 miles more (300 vs 250 miles). They figured they would drive Sarah's 100 series when the weather gets bad

It's really nice! We have room for two dogs and two little ones or the little ones and the big wagon stroller so it's a good size EV for a family of anyone else was interested.

The tail lights on this look awesome. Apparently they were inspired by vintage video games.

I finally got to test drive one yesterday. I did not expect to love this car so much. It was everything the 80s promised us and the 90s stole from us in one vehicle.

The local dealer is marking up in the $5-8k range plus with some 💩 "accessories" to make it go higher. So you'd be $10-15k over MSRP all said and done. And they have a wait list with people already putting deposits down not even knowing what version/color of the Ioniq 5 they'll receive.

In a couple years this might be my first electric vehicle.

Sarah and Jacob love the Ionic5 and bought it at MSRP. Many dealers had a mark up, they had to get on a list and wait for it at Arapahoe KIA.

I know Doug is in California so not an easy option for him

The dealers out here for the most part are pretty scummy. Won't tell you the price unless you physically come to the dealership, inventory is inaccurate even when you're there in person, etc etc. You'd think California would have better consumer laws for buying cars but we don't.

This is how the traditional dealer model will destroy itself - by prioritizing short term profits over long term relevance.

Dude we can only hope the traditional model goes down in flames fast. Dealerships around here are the worst.

I’m still waiting for a car manufacturer to make an AWD EV for the people. The leaf while not exciting is something most people can afford. All the $60K+ AWD performance EV’s while super fun to drive are not really economical. The new Subaru EV will be $50K+ equipped decent. Getting there but it’s fuggly. I’m still doing the cost of ownership math on the Polestar 2. I love the car but it’s just a disposable daily driver for me. I’d rather save the extra money for say a 40 series build. I’ll probably just get a new Crosstrek or WRX.
