Oh man, amazing work, glad it's pretty much there! Time to really enjoy it and tune it nice. That part will be fun. Thanks for posting this up, I have enjoyed watching it come together.

I'm a little sad to see this thread may come to and end... has been a great journey for a lot of us. Congrats on getting it done!

I appreciate that it’s been a lot of work...sort of surreal it’s done. Couple odds n ends to finish yet.

I weighed it today, 3440 with my 5 year old daughter in it. Not bad for a trail buggy!

added a bleeder to the thermostat housing..my air pockets are gone now so no more overheating.

I still need to pull the front shaft and have it balanced and phased...getting to Denver during the week is so hard

otherwise I've been learning how to drive again, its point and shoot but the auto is a really nice change as well as the ability to front dig

Went through today and pulled all of my skid plate bolts and retightened each one and added blue loctite. Apparently lock nuts weren’t enough. I also pulled the side skid material and cut all the edges on a 40 degree angle and cleaned them all up with a flapper so they have a nice angled surface to hit rocks. Not sure why I left them all square edged to start...

went to Moab for Thanksgiving, had a great time. Weather was definitely not peak fun...cold cold cold more than anything the wind blew all the time. Rusty Nail on thanksgiving, skipped Pritchett Friday to help with a repair and rear steer on Saturday.

before we went I swapped the side material, turns out the free cutting board material is far too brittle. I ordered UHMW (expensive) and installed that before.

Fun learning experiences I’d say. My front driveshaft had to be mounted in such a way that it went up 10 degrees from the transfer case to the pillow block then roughly 15 degrees down to the front axle. I figured it would be fine and it was crawling but anything over 15-20 mph I got a terrible vibration. I started by taking the shaft in to be professionally phased and balanced, and they found a bad yoke so that and the joint were replaced...that helped a little. Not nearly enough so I did what I thought I would have to do to begin with and start cutting. I cut the front lower mounts off and moved them out about 2” on each side to give more room. I rebuilt the pillow block mount also so now I’m 2 degrees down from the case and about 5 degrees to the axle. HUGE improvement...quick run around the neighborhood and not a hint of vibration up to say 25-30 so I think it’s good.

See you at CM!

Well theses are knuckles off of a 2017 Superduty. Next they’ll get machined to 3.5” so they fit over my housings and I can fit D60 axles in there.
Allegedly you can order them them new through a Ford parts department rather than scavenging them but they’re on permanent back order and aftermarket knuckles are spendy. Stock Superduty knuckles have proven to be plenty strong as opposed to older Dana stuff.
