Mmmmmm San Pedro de Atacama. Reminded me a lot of Taos.
Also, my brother once tried to "help" start a campfire with white fuel in San Pedro de Atacama. We had to get rid of it anyway, so I think those Germans were very surprised to have someone just come up and dump white fuel on the fire. But it got going!
Will have a short break in the updates as I wait for arrival of more family down here. Leaving to hit the carretera austral in a few days, and should have more pics once I have internet. Gets kinda remote down there...excellent!
Wow! Hope the trailer is all fixed up and you are able to get back rolling. Though in Colorado there is no shortage of great cruiser shops on either side of the divide. I'm sure those guys will get you all squared away for the trip south.
Gas is pricey here. About 800CLP per liter. Works about to about 5 bucks a gallon here in Chile. Bolivia was a bit cheaper; I paid 7 bolivianos per liter, so about 3.70 a gallon, though some folks reported having trouble being able to buy gas at all. The official rate is more expensive at over 8 bolivianos per liter.
I'll be in the south for a while, but most likely shipping the car back north around april next year. Depending on how fast you are coming down would be great to meet up. Happy to chat on skype sometime if you want some info on Chile and Bolivia, and can put you in touch with some friends that are doing the whole drive right now if you need central america info.

Figured some of you might enjoy a quick summary of the first half of my trip through Southern South America in an 80 series. A bit of tech and a bunch of pictures. Some are dupes as I posted this over on Mud as a summary of the first half of the trip.
