Has anyone used one of the ARB camp chairs?

I'm looking to get a pair of camp chairs as our last two cheap ones have died. In my search I noticed ARB makes a nice looking camp chair and I was curious if anyone here has one or has sat in one? Does anyone know if any of the local vendors carry them in stock?

I am really hesitant about buying a chair I can't test drive first as they all feel different to different people. However, I am impressed overall by every ARB product I've used thus far, and I imagine they would fall in line with ARBs known quality.

Slee has them and they are Cadillacs. The ONLY thing I don't like about them, and the reason I haven't bought a couple, is the way they fold down. Cheap ones have spoiled me with how conveniently shaped a package they break down into. The ARBs are irregular in their stowed configuration but if you have plenty of storage space in your rig, you can't go wrong with the ARB and the price isn't half bad. Very comfortable.

I have one that you are welcome to try out. It's a reasonably comfortable chair but it is rather heavy and takes up more space than it should when folded. Also, the frame slides along the arms to open/close. If the slide track gets some fine dust in it (Moab), the the slide binds up and requires cleaning to work properly.

I recently got some chairs from REI that are closer to the ground and recline - very comfy.

I have the ARB. It is comfortable but bulky and I wrestle it every time I open it.

I have one. As most mentioned above, not overly impressed with comfort or stowable size/shape. I'd just as well bring any other bag chair.

my chairs...

my chairs always seem to get holes burned in them:confused: weird. ;) Since mine typically get ruined or are covered in duct tape after a couple years, I get the Sports Authority ones that are "on sale".

bulky and don't fold well. I was demonstrating the fold at Cruiserfest and trapped my pinkie finger in it. Comfortable to sit in.

I'm also trying to find some new GOOD camp chairs!
My complain with my old ones is since they are kind of high the back of my legs get tired since the front edge kind of digs in.

That's the main complain with just about all chairs on the market and most reviews I have read.

Was looking into the ALPS Mountaineering and trying to find a chair that sits a bit lower so my waist is lower than my knees.

Murdoch's has some decent quality, inexpensive chairs. I like the ones with the foot rest, and they also have a rocker. Fold well, comfy, held up to my big ass for the last year.

I have one of those ARB chairs. It's so big when folded that I often leave it at home. It's also kind of a PITA to set up and break down. I wouldn't buy another one.

I was in search of a good camp chair. The Colemans are harder to get out of the older I get

I bought the ARB from Kurt at CM and its nice. Gives you lots of support and its easy to get out of

I also bought the Oztent King Kokoda chair
http://www.familytentcamping.com/product/OZKKC

Its twice the price of the ARB. Oztent does have a chair that is similar to the ARB as well. Don't know much about that

Tonight we went to a free concert at Centennial Park. I had the Coleman lined up next to the ARB and the Oztent.

Both Rachel and Bonni preferred the ARB as it has more support

I preferred the Oztent chair as it was more comfortable to me. I bought that one because I wanted a big comfortable chair

Both the ARB and Oztent are great chairs and the ARB is much cheaper

It really comes down to personal preference. Your welcome to come by and give them a try

Both do take up more room than the Coleman and are different to pack up. I have gotten use to it and it doesn't take but a couple more seconds than the Coleman camp chair

I just sat in an ARB tonight for first time tonight at a party. It rained here yesterday. The chair was still holding A LOT of water this evening. It seems they take days to dry out. For that reason alone I would no longer consider one. It was comfortable though.
