Ghost Town Run

Hi Perry,
I'm new to this area (came out for the July meeting & Yankee Hill Run). I assume I am still on the waiting list, so at this late date I will just go ahead and back out so I can make other plans for the weekend. I will try to get on the list earlier next year. Have a great time.

Now it's my turn to be "that guy", after a week in Ouray and springing a rear axle seal leak we wont be making this weekend's run.

Take pictures and have fun!

Perry - as a newbie on the run a few years back, I didn't understand the potluck on Sat. night. Will there be one as usual?

Hey Perry, I'm going to have to back out as well, sorry. I'll be heading to my brothers wedding reception.

Sorry to here Dan! Hope it's a fun wedding.

Rick, I did have you on the attending list. Your more than welcome to join if you haven't made other plans yet. I understand if not though:)

Steve, yes, was planning on another potluck for this years run. Basically, everyone brings something to chip into the pot.

So:

CoCarlisle and Jeff-Mendocino, have you guys on the list now if you guys are able to attend.

All. Updated first post with more info for this weekends run. Excited for it!

And just a reminder, I printed up a limited edition poster for this years run. Will have them for sale if interested ( this would help me do some upgrades to the 4runner;):thumb:)

Remember on Sunday Cumberland Pass out of Tin Cup is closed this summer.

Do you have info regarding this closure of Cumberland on Sunday? Not finding much. Need to know if I need to re route.

Perry....I tried to circle the wagons, but the family is not cooperating. Wife and kid have other plans, and they don't want me to go alone either, since I'm heading to Japan all next week.

Sorry man! I gotta bow out (AGAIN) :( I hope it is in time for someone else to make plans and go in our place.

Perry, at first I thought it might be old news as I know it was closed last year, but the info I found again is for summer 2018. cottonwood-co.dot.gov or an article in July 24th The Chaffee County Times. Simple solution, at Tin Cup head over Tin Cup pass back down to St. Elmo then home.

I have not yet found time to look in detail but I am thinking of a camp Friday night on the way to St Elmo. Maybe it makes sense to go to the Saturday camp. I'm not sure yet. Thoughts?

We'll be bringing frozen treats!

Im down for either. I guess ideally we'd set up camp once, but that would mean backtracking quite a bit to get to St. Elmo on Sat. morning.

I will be camping at our location near Pitkin on Friday and that is my only, "not sure which way to go" on Saturday. Over Cumberland pass (easy) and then Tin Cup pass (moderate) to St. Elmo or around on paved roads over Monarch Pass. Could head over Hancock Pass then will have to do again later that day? Suggestions?

Yeah, they have Cottonwood closed until it's finished.

So we will be doing Tincup Pass after meeting back up in the town. I will be pushing start times back to make sure we have ample time for all.

We stay at the camp to save it, as middle quartze Creek can get busy. Hancock is the quickest way back to St. Elmo. Fun seeing it in the early morning light.

There are sites on the Tincup Road just after St Elmo. I don't know the area real well.

Any takers for a different Friday camp on the way up? Maybe we can leave Denver together. We hope to be able to go by 4ish

Perry - can you restate the current intended route for Sat/Sun? I'm puzzled after reading all the replies.. Thanks! Steve.

There's a great spot just after St Elmo that we are planning on camping Friday night if anyone wants to join us. It's a flat open spot and could support well over 10 rigs if not more.

Of course as long as it's not taken, we are leaving Denver around 4-5.
