Yeah. The RIGHT number of bikes is ALWAYS one more than you currently own! Same applies to trucks.
Should I post it on my dating profile? Ladies please understand: maybe replace "bike/truck" with "shoes" and that is lady logic. Though my cleaning lady has commented I own more shoes than everyone else she cleans for. She might be jealous or just didn't want to clean as many shoes as I have
But anyway I guess it holds true, he with the most tools wins 
bikes at the end of day are just tools and thus we have come full circle

Replace shoes with more specific boots and that's true.
Two is one, one is none.
You need two of anything important. Boots, if for no other reason is you have a currently in-use pair and the pair getting a resole.
I mean, it just makes sense. I looked up to a serious boot aficionado for decades.
Now you know as much as anyone that the real answer is triple redundancy is where you hit true reliability.
Anyway, back to the scheduled programming.

Yes programming! Bust open a Matlab window and type up:
bikes = n++;
display("How many ", num2str(bikes), " you got");
n should be defined somewhere else. Matlab will get angry if n is left undefined
