Great to hear! Just scheduled my shot for Saturday with the VA! Always excited people are getting those shots, 1 less person that needs it!Got Moderna dose #2 yesterday. No issues until maybe an hour ago. Now I’m getting some of the fatigue and sick feeling. Bit of a body ache from my lymph system. Nothing bad enough to make me stop working. Just going to take it easy and not work out today.
The Army medical corpsman who gave me the shot yesterday did an excellent job. Both times I’ve gotten jabs from Army folks for the vaccine, it’s been painless which is a big difference compared to getting the yearly flu vaccine from a local pharmacy 😂
Heather was supposed to be eligible this week for her first shot but the state changed one of the pre-existing conditions at the last minute which made her ineligible in this round of the vaccination program. Hopefully in the next month she’ll become eligible.
Totally agree with this point. I’m a huge proponent of this! I think federalism is a great thing. But I do declare I still beleive in criticism as well... lolIt's definitely interesting to see how different states and counties choose to roll out the vaccines. 50 states, 50 different plans. That's a fundamental way the country works.
When it comes to how our country should work, I believe Jefferson was correct and Hamilton was wrong. Warts and all, the power not explicitly granted the federal government in the constitution should be up to the "several" states. We aren't Russia or China and Colorado (even with our left wing liberal state government) should be empowered to make our own decisions separate from Kalifornia or handed down from DC. Along with Jefferson, I agree with him that federalism is a bad thing and am glad he and John Adams got the upper hand over Hamilton's federalism in crafting our constitution.
That said, this morning I finally got my appointment for my first shot for next Monday, snowstorm or not I plan to get my slug bug. My wife got her first shot yesterday.
I have three 12 packs of toilet paper stored in my garage along with my sandpaper, spray paint and motor oil. Basic necessities.
Just to be clear, federalism is all about state rights. The term comes from Madison and Hamilton. And it’s not just leaving governing to the states, it’s actually about leaving governing to the lowest possible solution. What’s good for Boulder, is good for Boulder, what is good for Erie is good for Erie. States are there to resolve local issues, and the federal government is there to resolve federal issues between the states. And while federalism is not in the constitution, it’s obvious from reading the federalist papers, and other writing that t he tenth Amendment is specifically for the tenth amendment.agree with you jeff. the federal government should leave the majority of governing to the states. (said while enjoying a mask and shot free life of clean air an minimal Kalifornians)
Got the same email, no instructions on how you get your wife registered. You really wonder who’s in charge, and than I remember, it’s the government.And some good news:
All Veterans, Caregivers, and Spouses Now Eligible for Covid vaccine through VA
The key points are that this expanded from enrolled veterans in the VA system to now include the following:
Reading another release it sounds like the roll-out is:
- Veterans who are not eligible for enrollment in VA’s health care system, including veterans without compensable service-connected disabilities and veterans who have incomes above a certain threshold;
- Caregivers of veterans who are enrolled in various VA home-based and long-term care programs;
- Spouses of veterans; and
- CHAMPVA recipients (spouses of permanently and totally disabled veterans or of veterans who have died from service-connected disabilities).
1. Enrolled Veterans
2. Non Enrolled Veterans
3. Caregivers of Veterans
4. I'm guessing spouses go here? The directive looks to be a little unclear at this point

It also bears pointing out that Joseph Ellis has sold a lot of books thanks to the American reading public’s deep admiration of the founders. It strikes me as bad form indeed for a man to profit from that admiration and then sneer at it in the pages of the Washington Post. Perhaps he is trying to win back some campus cred with his fellow historians who like to pretend that “great men” make less of a difference in history than they do. It must make him feel guilty sometimes that he doesn’t go with the flow and write books no one reads about people no one has heard of.Just to be clear, Federalism is NOT about states rights, it is about the FEDERAL government's rights. Jefferson and Hamilton had a famous dispute about it when Hamilton was the treasury secretary and wanted the federal government to pay debts and Jefferson argued that states should pay their own debts. It's obvious from reading the federalist papers that Federalism is about more control by the FEDERAL government rather than the several states. The 10th amendment is specifically what I was referring to in my post above, and Jefferson was a strict constructionalist. When reading the details about how our country was founded, it is absolutely amazing that we last the first couple decades and finally gained critical mass, both economically and politically, particularly as pertaining to our relationship with France and Britain. The Louisiana purchase was kind of a weird deal where Spain owned it, gave it to France and France turned around and sold it to us a few weeks later. Then there's Colorado: We stole it fair and square!
A couple of my favorite books about our county's founding:
Revolutionary Summer by Joseph J. Ellis
Founding Brothers by Joseph J. Ellis
Back on-topic, it looks like Colorado and a large fraction of our country are doing really well in progress toward herd immunity. Between the vaccinations and acquired immunity from having been infected naturally, I am very hopeful that we can get back to "normal" by this summer! I'm 8 days out from my first shot, and hopefully in under a week or so I'll be around 85% protected just from that first jab. I am pleased that the US has finally relented and will be sharing their stockpiled doses of the Astra Zenica vaccine with Europe while we wait for its approval here.
sneer at it in the pages of the Washington Post.
What’s even more crazy is that our governor who is a crazy lefty actually gets it. We have to do something mentality is pretty interesting. Good for him for not giving in. Douglass county may be a escape for now, but don’t think it will stay that way.As if we didn't know it already, our county health departments here along the front range have completely lost their minds with these new, ineffective and unnecessary mask orders.
Per the New York Times <s>(a right-wing conservative publication)</s>
Chances of dying of COVID if you are vaccinated and under 65: 0.0 per 100,000
Chances of having to be hospitalized from COVID if you are vaccinated and under 65: 3.3 per 100,000
Chances of having to be hospitalized from a bicycle crash: 6.0 per 100,000
I will be shopping in Douglas County until they stop the madness here!
