$35,000 Stout. That makes it the most expensive Stout I have seen. Also, this is an interesting perspective of how much these have gone up in value over the last 4 years.

The new "spring perches" are just blobs and both pinions are pointed up so the ds angles are wrong, which also screws up the caster angle in the front end. Also, the bump stops are going to mash into the flipped u bolts.

Crazy. Even these questionable SA rigs are bringing big bucks. These collectors are just buying anything.

But that last one was all shill bidding at the end, I guarantee.

I think I see what you're saying about the pinion angles. The perches are probably small but the weld doesn't look immediately bad, but it's hard to tell. Without see the bump stops I'd be willing to give a benefit that they might line up in the middle of the plates and I have seen worse u-bolt flips with the bolts not cut at all and looking like an upturned rake waiting to shred something. I dunno Martin, without seeing up close hard to say about the workmanship (the angles maybe being wack not withstanding).

Maybe I'm being too hard on them and maybe they actually did a cut and turn on the front axle?

The other sketchy thing was they had people shill bidding it up.

This one looks really nice. I was following this rebuild on Mud too.

What a train wreck of an auction. This happens all the time, I’m sure of it. I’ve bought 3 cars on BaT and won’t buy another. It’s a game now…

I do not think you are being hard at all. But you obviously do not / did not see the impressive attention to detail they exuded by painting all of those bolt heads red and the TOYODA on the steering box. I mean THAT is what everyone has to be fixated on...

No way they cut and turned the knuckles. I mean they could not be bothered to remove the SUA perches... Not sure who would go through the effort in fixing the castor problem only to half-ass everything else, minus the red paint of course.

Also that front driveline angle is awful. Setup for a CV, but no CV... Bet she whines like {check current events for a name} >40mph.

[edit]
L-O-L yeah, I'll bet 48 grand they half-assed every part of that restoration.

This sentence right here confirms it:
This 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was acquired by the seller in Venezuela in 2021 and subsequently refurbished before being imported to the US in 2022.

Did you all see this one? Crazy world these days....

Wow. And for a Michigan truck. Mine is my all time favorite vehicle, but even if I sold it for $50K (2x what I paid 19 years ago, but mine has 172K, and some goodies...), then what? The equivalent truck today is $90K, and less useful to me. An Excursion conversion based on a new truck is a solid one and a quarter. I'm in no mood to sell.
