We are in also. My wife and I are looking forward to it. Let me know if there is anything we can do to help or bring besides the food.

Go ahead and air down as soon as you get to Rollinsville. We'll drive for about 20-30 minutes, then we'll be at the cookout/dinner site. After that, it's another hour or so of driving, plus whatever extra time the group needs. Remember the trees are tight, it's a nice steady 2nd gear meander through the forest when you're only with a couple other trucks, but with a big group it may take a bit.

This is a new trail (to most of us, to the SNR) so just show up with a well maintained vehicle and prepare to have a great time.

Tim, do you have a vehicle cap on this run? Looks like it's nearing 15-20 rigs already.

I may be able to make this. A previously planed trip may be falling thru for me so my Saturday may be available. I had fun on last years snow run with a great group.

Tim, Sean Boland will be coming up from CS for this trip. He is forcing me to ride along. He drives a clean white FJ60.

Lindsay works Sat night, thus my hesitant to go...

Randy, i'll look for ya on the trail:cool:

Gonna have to force you guys into some long night time exposures.

Gonna be a fun run!

Me and Al are shooting for making the run. Maybe I can get the 40 out for it, but I gotta get it together first... we'll see. If we can't get the 40 going we'll bring the 60 so I guess it's a guarantee.. Al says she's going to come up with something as far as food goes. Looking forward to it.

Hi all,
My wife & I might try to come for this in my Troopie. Is it too long/big to avoid scratches? It needs a lot of work, but I don't want to damage it. Also, I don't actually have a cb and all of the stuff you need to do trail runs with you guys. Does anyone have a list of required, vs suggested gear? and are walkie talkies okay or does it have to be a cb radio? Last question, if we couldn't do the trail ride, is the cookout/dinner first, so that we could do that & then roll home? We live in Boulder Canyon, so even if we couldn't do the ride, we could come for that since it isn't too far of a drive.
Thanks,
Abe

Abe, happy to have you. You can definitely get your troopie to the cookout, it's early on and the trail is pretty mellow to that point, a couple little rocks to drive over, that's it, so yes you can do at least until the cookout. After the cookout is where it gets tighter- you'll have an advantage since you're narrow but a long wheelbase will make things more difficult. I've successfully run this in my 80 without any real damage (couple mirror bonks) and I know that's wider but I don't know how the wheelbases compare. One positive is there's no ledges to drop off or anything that would make your long rear end vulnerable.. it's just tree and edge of the trail negotiation.

As for CB this isn't Cruise Moab so it's not required, but it sure would be nice to have. Or better yet a Ham radio, but you're not getting a license before Saturday so that's out.. just something to keep in mind for all future club runs, the majority of the folks in the club who wheel run ham radio now. I'm sure there will be a few extra hand held radios you may be able to borrow so that you can listen into the conversation.

As for the rest of the gear just bring whatever you need to keep that thing running- a jack and some basic tools are pretty standard, as are gloves, flashlight, warm clothes, etc. the nice thing about a big group is if you don't have it someone else will.

I have 2 real CB radios to loan anyone that does not have one but wants to particippate in the chatter..

Will try to arrive early. Debating on putting the 35s on, but the weather looks like I probably will just to be safe..

Heh heh, just make sure anyone that is sprung over has a trac bar and a rear locker. Lets all pray to the mechanical gods that we have an incident free run :bowdown::bowdown:

Probably is usually about 50% that there will be any mechanical issues...:D

'05 - none that I remember, 'cept my unlocked FJ40 with bald tires trying to get up a steep, icy hill...and a nice FJ60 sliding into an abandoned vehicle that was barely off the trail...
'06 - ?
'07 - winch got stuck in "ON" position
'08 - a Ford had some issues
'09 - broken pinion
'10 - TBD...:D

Hm...seems the probability is higher - that's why it's called a "SPOOKY" Night Run...:D

Wish I could make it this year...:(
