Anyone else want to go up Friday night? I am leaning that way... would roll in pretty late though.

I can't Tim, but I love the idea.

I am pre-running it tomorrow, I have heard there is some heavy equipment up there right now that is causing some reroutes. I will be checking it out tomorrow and report back.

Tim could I have you tail-gun and Adam can I have you mid group?

I'm planning on heading up Friday evening. I think PWCO70cruiser is also planning on that. Hopefully a campsite will be picked out by the end of today.

Yeah Drew I'm up for whatever on the trail, will see you up there. If we end up camping, we'll meet at the start of the road off Guanella Pass.

I have been looking for places to camp. Dispersed camping is the way to go up Guanella Pass Rd (since the campgrounds closed last weekend!). I was thinking either Naylor Lake Road or Leavenworth Creek Rd (start of our trail). Naylor sounds pretty nice, higher up so colder most likely, but less used. Its about 9 miles south of Georgetown near the Pass. I plan on heading up late Friday morning, figured I'd be up there 1-2pm and get a place scouted and find camp. I'll have the CB set to channel 4 and listen in for you guys. But does Naylor Lake sound good?

We were up a couple of weeks ago, the heavy equipment was starting to roll, but it was the railway grade road, and they were parked at the McLelland mine site. If you're going up the "B" road, you won't run in to any big stuff...

Saw the cow moose, and her calf on the B road...keep your eyes open!

Bump for new info on first post.

Answers to your questions Drew...

there's only one entrance, by that big switchback.. yes 9:30 at that spot is a great one for any campers.

the lower route is more funner, more difficult, and more pinstriping. And about midway there's a connecting route between the two, affectionately referred to as the Subzali junction. The lower route is also where the two main water crossings are, above and below "camp Dave."

see ya Saturday!

OK I took the "high road" I am looking forward to the lower road as it looked to have a few more rocks and closer to the meadows. Yeah, is that a private cabin up there? Talk about a super sweet spot.

For those camping...we'll be dispersed camping off Naylor Lake Rd (FS 381). I plan on being there before 4pm to find a spot and set up. I know I'll need to head into Georgetown to gas up Saturday morning, and its only about 3 miles to the trailhead from town, so it may be worth driving to the visitor center to meet up at 9am on Sat. I know people like to chat before hand and take pictures of all the rigs. I plan on camping until Sunday morning and head back south to Pueblo.

I have camped there before... if you try to go all the way to the lake there's a gate up top, so you end up turning around prior to. But there are spots on both sides of that road, starting almost instantly as soon as you turn off the pavement. I suspect there will be very few up there on Friday night, should be no problem getting a site.
