Awesome...never done that trail! Fingers crossed I can head up from Pueblo on Friday afternoon and camp near Georgetown and meet up with you guys Saturday morning (having some health issues, so it all depends on that!).

OK...so I will be making this trip! I will be coming up on Friday to camp a couple nights near the trail. Is anybody interested in joining me? I don't mind sharing a camping spot, cost depending on where I stay. I know a couple of other people are coming up from CO Landcruisers to join the run too.

Thanks guys, my cruiser took a step back this week, I'm totally DOA. Gotta chase this short wiring issue down once for all.

Drew, my 40 is available for this trip if you need something to drive. Some stuff isn't working, I can pm you the details if you're interested.

Meeting at the visitor center in Georgetown works out pretty well as a potty stop. And then everyone can head up to the trailhead to air down. It's an extra stop so it can take some additional time. For the cleanup runs we usually just meet at the TH.

Sounds good meeting at the visitor center. I'll have the CB so just let me know what channel and I'll meet you in town.

Like to join on the 9th

Hopefully there is room on the 9th. Just purchased my second FJ40 and looking forward to getting out. Ken Romer suggested this was a great way to try it out.

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and I'm planning on coming to this trail ride. I'm down for camping out Friday night and then doing the trail with ya'll Saturday morning. Looks like I need to get myself a HAM radio before then?

Hey Dan, welcome to the forum! Trail communications are very helpful, so I would certainly encourage you to get something installed! Just be aware that a Ham radio requires a license to transmit except in emergencies, so by all means get one installed but you might only be able to listen in unless you can sit for an exam between now and the run. The exam is not too onerous, there are plenty of practice exams online - check out our Ham/CB corner of the forum for direction on how to get started! Chinese Baofeng handheld ham radios are cheap too BTW!

You don't need a HAM at all. A fraction of the club uses them, last check was around a quarter to a third of members are licensed. CBs don't have the range but are much more common and don't require a license.

Thanks for the info Matt and Jeff! I do have a CB radio lying around, I just need to get the antenna for it and I should be able to have it installed before the trail run. :thumb:

We'd love to have you Daniel. A simple CB is the way to go, if you have it installed have someone check out your SWR (standing wave ratio) it is fancy lingo for getting the most out of your antenna. It is very simple but makes a very big difference in the quality of both your transmission and reception.
