Yeah I am still waiting on my upper hoops... hoping they are on the next container from Pakistan. Until then, I'll be running the single piece rear window.

Here's a pic of the doors:

Can you get me a picture of whatever retains there are for the headrests?

When I got my seats recovered the upholstery guy was nice enough to do it so the headrests now just slide right out...

Well this is all I have. I am thinking all you do is poke a hole in the top, then pound these things down into the foam? Not sure there are any other parts, seems like that's all SOR says there is:

Then we went back over to Locke's to pick up the hood, rear doors, and soft top hoops. That's the last of the green stuff, at least for this round.

The rear door project actually turned out alright. I need to still figure out how to secure it shut, presently using a big piece of foam wrapped around the tire swingout to push it in :hill: I may just drill a hole in the sill.

The prep work on the doors is fairly poor, I was rushed for time and also tired of body work.. but figure it's fairly easy to take a door off later if something really bugs me. Plus this way I don't stress as much about kids & dogs or whatever needs to climb in and out of there.

My turn signals were cracked, on both sides. So I bought the "aftermarket" turn signal assemblies from SOR. http://www.sor.com/cat146.sor The quality of these things is really poor.. should have just ponied up for OEM. It's thin, cheap, made in Taiwan plastic.. I was bummed when I pulled them out of the box. I am going to work on new lenses for my OEM ones, so I can toss these things.

But they light up, and they blink, and it looks like a 40. It ain't all bad. I painted the winch plate detail gray to match the bumper and hooks (and rims, and bumperetes, and wiper arms, and..) and got those all mounted up. Also got the rear swing-out installed and the spare mounted. And did the covers on the other jump seat.

Last mod that I can think of, that's worth mentioning is the headlights. I did the IPF housing/bulbs and ARB harness, again sourced from Cruiser Outfitters. I did this on Romer's old 40 and really liked the upgrade, so I'm sure I'll dig it on this one also. So far all I know is I have some adjustments to do, but they are significantly brighter than the stock stuff. http://cruiseroutfitters.com/IPF.html

so I've had this Cool Cruisers poster up in the garage, been using that for color guide and inspiration.

I know when I dig the hard top out again it'll feel like a step backwards, but 6 months in I'm feeling pretty good about the progress. Feels like I'm almost there! what do you think.

thanks, guys, there are definitely some flaws but heck it's so much better than it was, and from 10' away looks pretty darn good. And I'm indebted forever to Locke for pushing his 40 aside to work on mine, I will be over there this winter earning it back somehow. :weld:

I just put the half doors on, too bad they're black but they look ok. Can't wait to tackle this soft top thing this weekend.

I think I'd be using the poster of that same vehicle with the half-naked girl out in front of it :)

Tim...your 40 is looking incredible! So jealous.
