Off with the running boards on with the sliders. Slee Offroad sliders to be exact. We all know the quality of product that Slee provides so I won’t dwell there. Install was pretty easy solo. I got the lighting kit but will wait for better weather. I’d had enough laying in the cold snow & ice for the day. If I had any criticism of the design it would be the overall length front to back. I’d like them to terminate closer to the wheel wells. Front is OK rear could easily be an inch or more longer.

Summer wheels and tyres went on this week.

Icon Recon SLX 18x9” +40mm offset. Custom Powdercoat to match the roof. It’s a really light grey. I’m really happy with the results.

Tyres are Nokian Outpost nAT LT275/70r18

I’ll note this has about 450lbs of weight over stock as it sits in the photo.

It was important to me that the tyres are inside the top of the wheel well. That made wheel choices pretty slim as a +20mm offset is far more common. Factory offset is something like +53mm.

So obviously I added a RTT a couple weeks ago. With the Alaska trip coming up it was clear Bridger having his own tent is the best solution for the family.

This was the cheapest, lowest profile and lightest clam shell tent I could find. It was under $1200 to my door off Amazon.

At only 4.5” tall and 135lbs it seemed to be the best solution. Seam quality appears very good. The fabric is a blackout design which is desirable for the endless summer days in AK. At 6’ I fit it in but definitely wouldn’t want to share. The 2” mattress is lacking. Adding a thermarest should offer decent comfort. Closing the tent with a lightweight summer sleeping bag, deflated thermarest and deflated camp pillow is a challenge. The ladder will not fit inside. It came with an LED light strip that should work fine with a small usb battery pack.

When we return from AK this may end up on my 80 for solo missions. That would save me the hassle of moving the big Eezi-Awn off the trailer all the time.

I don’t like how the doors fold at the bottom. You have to climb over the screen and fabric for entry/exit. Other than that I’m satisfied with initial quality and design.

I do like how the gas strut is enclosed inside the hard shell in travel mode. While you lose a little width verse other tents in this class I’m less exposed to damaging them on trees when wheeling.

I hate moving tools/gear between multiple vehicles. Seems like I never have what I need. So I picked up a tool kit this week to live in the LC250. Williams is part of SnapOn. Marketed towards industrial applications they seem similar with BluePoint in terms of quality. Made in Taiwan. This is an all metric kit part #50611B.

Pretty basic kit with 1/4” & 3/8” drive tools. Box wrenches and screwdrivers. Should be sufficient for minor fixes. Hate not having any tools with me.

Blown plastic case. They rattle, might need a tool roll.

Williams is a brand of tools that has been around since 1882. The old tools are collectible. Williams got acquired by Snap-On in 1993.
