this is turning into a fun discussion... per usual... so I'll be the first to say today that a bottle jack is generally safer, faster, and easier for changing tires compared to a hi lift. 10 tons and 18.5" oughta do it.. $30.

That's an interesting hilift jack replacement. Get to building it, I wanna see it! Lol!

Total trust on your memory for specifics. It took my brain 12 hours to remember this happened at all. It was bugging me all night, I just knew there was something about the original question.

My 2 cents.

I love the HL. Use it all time around my property, lifting, moving, pushing, pulling, etc.

I still carry one everywhere on the RhinoRide and can think of 3-4 times mine or someones HL was used at CM.

2006: Lifted mini bobcat tractor off it's side.
2010: Lifting a white 60 on 7 mile to fix locked rear brakes.
2010: Lifted a 40 on the return from the overnight due to flat.
2020: lifted trailer to replace trailer jack.
2025: Lifted a 80 on Dome Plateau to swap a spare due to a flat.
2026: Used to create an adjustable pendulum to pull my 55 out of a ditch while winching it.
2003-2026++++: continue to use the edge to wack a beer bottle lid off since it's mounted on the ARB front bumper...

So, while they can be bulky, heavy and a PITA it's just one of those pieces of kit I'll always have with me.

That’s the pic that says it all for Dave’s first three days on Rubicon. He hung in there and made it home in one piece and that’s what matters. That run fried my brain five years later.

@IH8RUST Are you able to zinc plate an entire high lift? That would add some serious bling to my rig.
