What non cruiser classics do you own/work on?

I am a recovering muscle car'aholic...

1970 VW Karmann Ghia (really-poor man's Porsche). It's a 'survivor'...and my neglected ride right now. runs great, stops straight, will run a 80 mph all day long if desired, no leaks, new-ish interior.

1982 BMW R65LS. With a similar vintage R100 motor and R80 rear drive and Bub pipes, sounds like an old Bonneville. Painted Porsche Guard's Red, but since it is my wife's and she feels the red is too orange it will be repainted a red remarkably close to the Red Chili when I get around to it. Fun bike. Sedate by today's standards even with 1,000cc.

I have been helping my father for the last 8-10 years on his car. I am now inheriting it before the fact. I should have it in about 3 weeks. We had to find a transporter to bring it from Florida. It is a 1958 Packard Hawk.

I can't wait for Dad to see us enjoy his baby!

'58 Massey Ferguson 50 with the 'High Altitude' engine. The torque curve and rev-ability remind you of a 2F.

This is not a garage queen, in spite of the paint. I grade the road, use the bucket on snow, pull the septic lid, push vehicles, etc. with the tractor and loader.

Speaking of my Galaxie, someone posted up before about wanting to see a pic (back when I was asking about Tow Vs. Ship).

I don't have any digital pics of it actually, but when I get it back I will take some and post them for people.

So, since it seems tons of us have other toys that we like too, maybe someday we should do a, "cruiser folk, other toy get together" or something & everyone brings their favorite not Landcruiser toy with them...

Still have my '66 Chevelle Super Sport taking up shop space. It was my bracket racer until I decided it should come back a notch or two and be pro-street. Haven't messed with it in years but it has been on my mind lately so who knows....might start throwing money down that dark hole again....

More Massey 50 pix

More Massey stuff: - Before pix, and a shot of all of it. My oldest daughter helped repaint the bucket with my HVLP gun. A few runs don't matter much on the bucket, do they?

Removing the loader (to do mechanical work and paint it) took ~9 hours, as did reinstalling it. Very tricky to do without damaging the tractor sheet metal. My wife helped for 3 hours - that was about her limit. The tractor engine was in good shape, but the power steering leaked, the exh manifold was broken in several places, and much maintenance had been deferred for 30+ years. I soldered the radiator holes shut with a blowtorch and plumbing solder with acid flux - still holding great.

Had a '66 Chevy stepside longbed w/ a 327 before I got the Cruiser...sold it in preference to the vehicle that was actually streetable, but wouldn't mind getting some old Chevy iron one of these days. My dad's got a '57 Massey Ferguson High 40 that has been passed down since his grandfather. Got a bunch of cool implements too! Someday it would be great to get it back in the shape yours is in Steve!

Very reminiscent of the early 60's Studebaker Golden Hawk. A friend had one and always wanted to find one for myself. I'm guessing there was a connection since his was Packard powered.

We used to cruise from Chicago to Milwaukee at 100+ mph.

+1 I thought that was a Studebaker as well. Very nice.

I've got the 66 Sportop (currently getting soaked) and my dad and I have a 51 Chevy 1/2 ton, 52 Burb/Carryall, 54 GMC hydromatic 1/2 ton. All three are completely original and regularly spit gravel in your face through the floor boards. The Burb is a ton of fun to take on the road.

You are very right! Packard owned Studebaker in 1958. They took 588 Stude Hawks and put their own front end on it. They did a leather interior, full set of gauges, power windows, more chrome/stainless steel, and the fake continental tire kit on the trunk. The Hawks were the last Packards to be built. Supposedly there are less than 200 known to exist! The drive train is all Studebaker. It is a 289 V8 that is supposed to have a McCullough supercharger on it. I would like to find one of them at some point. This is going to be fun!

Keep 'em coming, I love the vintage tractors! My buddies dad had a 50ish Oliver, that was SWEET!
