Installed a Loncky leather steering wheel cover. 4 hours to get it done but I just had some good tunes going in the garage.
It can get tedious and frustrating after a couple hours but I think the results are worth it. It’s not perfect but close enough, just like the rest of my 80. 😁

I did one of these loncky covers on my 100 a few years ago and still looks good.

Last Saturday I pulled the winch line on the 80 so I could give it a good clean.
Pulled 50ft down to the drum, gave it a rinse/soak, plugged the controller in and got a whole lotta nothin'. The solenoid had finally given up the ghost.

Not incredibly surprising, This was a freebie winch from @DomOfTheDead that I refurbished 3-4ish years ago. It came without a solenoid cover, so I just ran with it. It was exposed, and living on borrowed time. It's worked without incident in the field, and finally failed in my driveway. Good timing.

I picked up a new solenoid/kit from BB during one of our recovery trainings. Pulled the winch apart for service, swapped in some new parts and semi-remote mounted the box to a better location. I still need to pull the winch line to redress.

Passed Emissions, again! 388,000. Original CATs.
Standard proven procedure: Oil change. 1/2 tank gas. 2x red heet, 45 PSI. Dacono. Emissions gas cap. New air filter today because it was due and I was in some hellacious dust last week.

I also learned today. It was a slow day. No line and Steve was my tester. He has nearly 20 years at Dacono. He thought he remembered my truck.
My 1993 FZJ80 fast-passed. "fast-pass" means the results are so good the test is shorter. Steve shared that in these older lower power to weight ration rigs the tester should start the "hill" portion in 2nd, OD off, and part way through shift to D. He said a lot of newer techs do not know to do that. Same as driving a real hill in an 80. He said its fine to ask your tester, "do you know the procedure for these older underpowered AWD Toyotas where you start the hill in 2 before shifting to D?" IF you go to Dacono, look for Steve. Hes a fan!

The gas cap is tested. Always put a new one on for the test. I’m not aware that you have to keep the new one on the truck after the test as opposed to keeping it on the shelf until the next two years have arrived……

I also passed emissions again! I’m kinda surprised because the last time I tested, the kid couldn’t find my OBDII port so he just put it on the rollers. I passed last time, even though it stated that the Diagnostic Port was damaged and/or missing. Not sure how that works.

Anyhow, went in this morning for another test. I added a half bottle of Stabil and had a full tank of gas. Tire pressure is about 34 all around. I drove the long way to the Golden station via the highway to warm it up.

I was worried because the guy this time knew exactly where my OBDII port is. Put it on the rollers and was on there quite a long time. I was surprised to see that not only did I pass, but I passed with pretty low numbers.
97, stock 1FZ, original cats, 224,600 miles.

Spent the last 3 days prepping the TR-6 after pulling it out of storage.

Full tune-up, drained fuel and carb cleaned the entire fuel system and the dual carbs, new plugs and wires, new air filter, oil filter, oil change, flushed and bleed brakes and clutch systems.

40s, 45s and 60s come from the factory with tailpipes routed out the side behind the rear wheels.
