Check this Hilux out. Love the matching 70's topper and stripes.

I have a US spec 1982 Land Cruiser with a factory air conditioning, power steering and disk brakes. I know this is a pretty rare vehicle in this spec and year. I have listed this before, with a lot of people asking a lot of questions. I am going to answer as many questions in this ad as possible.

Does it run? Yes Does it drive? Yes Can I drive it home? No (the current roller wheels on it do not clear the front brakes and it will need to be trailered, currently on wheel dolly’s in my shop) Will you ship it? No

Does it have rust? Yes Is the frame good? Yes This is (I believe) a California spec cruiser will all emissions equipment intact aside from the catalytic converter which was cut off before I purchased. I still have the original.

This is a great project. I just don’t have time to do it. I have 2 young kids and I am building a new house and thinning out the herd of 7 vehicles.

Only trades considered a pile be a 1983 Toyota 4x4 pickup. Turbo Toyota pickup. Asking $13,500.

Driven 105,000 miles
Manual transmission

Looks like a fun project Matt... man that's a lot of rust though. I guess depends on how much project you want to tackle? the factory AC is pretty cool.. and it looks like it's got the ashtray on the center console, fwiw that's a $500 item now probably. Even though you'd probably pull it to run a tuffy ;)

@rover67 is your 82 expert, yeah would be good to have another one around for our annual top secret 82 run. Also fair to note that it being this new you'll have to get emissions every 5 years. Which shouldn't be a big deal as you can get it running well enough, but does mean you'll have to source a cat for it. Might not be the biggest priority today tho

i don’t know… if the structure isn’t all gone then the rest is fixable and then more valuable
like the center channel behind front seats the cowl and the main floor supports under the floors
if he could give you good pictures underneath particularly where the rear wells meet the mid bed and then good pictures behind the seats and up close of the inside and outside of that b pillar and inside the truck foot wells and as much under the dash as possible then that might be enough to say it just need rockers rear quarters rear sill and other ‘skins’
but if it gets into the structure that sucks and would hurt the value and mean a tub

you should find Marcos 82 thread and see what that entails. it’s pretty harrowing but legit 82 with factory ac ps and all the rest of the post 79 modern benefits that is all original is pretty pretty rad

There was an 83’ up in Utah with a decent amount of rust recently thats was a driver for $6,500. You would have a lot of money getting rid of rust on there.

I bought an '80 FJ40 with about that much rust, but all 4 doors were solid - which is what flipped the switch for me. The drivetrain was rock solid, engine was rebuilt, etc. and I think I paid 3K for it (when such things were far cheaper). I still put $10K into paint and body on it and countless hours cutting out and welding in new metal and one new rear quarter panel.

Simps80s comment that you need to check the floor supports is valid - if the whole under-floor area is rusted out, I'd pass on it for sure. If they are shot, you'd have to do a frame-off just to fix the rust correctly.

Seems like a decent price for a running/driving 40. Especially since it’s a later year w/ AC and PS. You can always fix the body later.

I would have bought that and dropped a Aqualu tub on it and had a running/driving 40 with an aluminum tub for less than $15k.

More photos. Seller says:

Here is some frame pictures and some of the worst rust. Easiest repair would be to put from the back of the front seats back. I planned to get a new tub from topnault, but just don’t have time to work on it

If you're really interested Matt, I could drive down there and put eyes on it for you. Easy day trip. I don't get what he's saying about the wheels. Those should clear. I would want to drive it and make sure it runs.

I have a truck and trailer too if you want to stash it in Iowa for awhile. 😉

@Hulk - I'm traveling back home mostly via secondary roads starting from Rolla early next week. Lawrence (thus easily Leavenworth) could be on the route. It wouldn't take much arm twisting to divert to KCI around Tuesday or so... Larned wasn't in my plan, though.

I'm sure its got some rust hiding under that diamond plate but this looks like a pretty solid rig.
