Edit: There's a guy on the stout facebook group in CA who's giving away a really complete 3rb engine and trasmission that would be a perfect builder for this one. Wish I was closer!

A 60 in California. Shared to me by a guy I knew in Denver a long time ago.

Not a facebook link, but saw this on FB. I was looking at a Lexus at this place and saw this beast! He says they have had a ton of interest, but nobody will lend money on the camper.

Those FJ40 wheels are welded, yet preceded disk brakes.

I had one FJ40 wheel that was welded, rather than riveted, and it was stamped '74', so apparently the transition from rivets to welds was somewhat in advance of the appearance of disk brakes. Those are a deal at $400, given that new, welded wheels are $130/ea+ at the dealer.

Are they riveted? They look welded to me, in the one pic.

Wow! I’m tempted to hoard those rims but I’m going to resist. I can pick these up for you if anyone is interested.

Oops - corrected my previous post - they are welded, not riveted. I shouldn't post before coffee........

Those wheels definitely look welded. No rivers down the center on the inside. I was gonna ask the experts here when that transition happened.

I may have a use for a set of old 40 wheels soon, and have a set of 5 riveted on hand … but the welded would be better. Too bad I’ve blown all of my cruiser funds.
