Not local Craigslist, but here is an '08 LX570, 88k miles @ $28k. It has been keyed.

"Unfortunately this car was keyed on most of its panels"

Guy on MUD just posted that he bought this 100 for $5k with 519k miles. Regardless of price, it's absolutely amazing to see one in that condition with that kind of miles. What a testament...makes me not so scared to look at any with 200k and good maintenance records...

Not really for the tires and wheels, but for the first pic in the ad.

He also has an ARB bumper for sale from that truck. He is unfortunately a typical CL scumbag. We agreed on a price and I was sending him the cash via paypal, but someone else offered him a little more money so he bailed on the deal. Good news is karma came along and the other buyer backed out...and this was a month ago, he still reposts them every couple of days...

Technically if you reached an agreement in text or email it is considered a binding contract (agreement) in Colorado. There was a lot of controversy on that subject. I think I first saw it on the news and looked into it and the information seems correct but I'm not a lawyer so...

Yeah, I would say it happens at least 25% of the time. Very sad that this is considered normal or ok....

Really? I have bought tons of used stuff from Craigslist and have literally never had this happen.

I have also never sent money via PayPal -- I just go pick it up with cash in hand. Maybe that's the difference?

I've had a few buyers flake on me, but that's a different story.

More often it is with more expensive stuff that they would usually ask for a deposit. I try to go pick up with cash asap, that does help. But I have received a text while driving to pick something up and they say that someone else offered more. In my opinion, once you have an agreement, whether it be voice or email or text, it is a done deal. I sold some sliders last week, and after I agreed with a guy on price and pickup, it was a done deal in my mind, even when I received 3 more emails offering more money...

Same here, if someone is coming I'll tell someone else they're next in line pending the sale.

The tub is total garbage on it. That 40 was on craigs like 6 months ago for 4500, which was reasonable. Then someone bought it and its been for sale for like 8k or something. Now someone is asking 10k. Yes as the ad states nice 40s go for 25k or more. Which really isn't all that much money considering what a new jeep costs. But that for is far far away from being 25k worth of truck. I love it when people have to defend themselves of their asking price in a ad.

That is near me, on Williams just south of Yale. (Usually in the alley) He had it on CL a couple of years ago for around 8 or 9k...I think I offered him a lot less than that and he was interested. I have seen it up close. VERY rusty, not worth even $4k in my opinion...

Yup! Sure it *could* sell for $25k after about $35k of work! :)
