It's a Japanese subway handle. Kids in japan would steal them and put them on their cars for decoration and maybe they also do what NuclearLemon suggests as well, either way people sell them now so anyone can decorate their cars with them.

wow...nice 74. looks like a dealer chrome upgrade. were the bumperettes chrome too? also front bumper should've been chrome. i had that upgrade on my first cruiser. hopefully it doesn't get the teenage boy treatment

and hope he replaces the broken hood latch before the other one fails and the hood goes up

Yes - the chrome package (as on my 1980 FJ40) included the bezel, running boards, rear bumperettes, and (perhaps) the front bumper. Mine had a winch bumper, but the rest was stock.

no but the hood hinges, windshield hold downs, hood latches, cowl vent, footman loops, rear swingout hinges and latch...a lotta chrome
