That's very cool! I kind of wish they'd have kept the square bezel being a 1984, though.
not sure what other markets were running. it's a non us rig and they often have different and sometimes much older parts

This is it before restoration. Dig the Foose Design sticker on the windshield. It's an abomination in so many ways fer sure. But also interesting in the oddness. Anyone know the story on the fiberglass top? Assuming it's some sort of tropical or hot weather thing.

They do seem common when you search for Colombian or Brazilian Land Cruisers. Looks like they have vents in the front. Wonder if they are double wall like those tropical Rover roofs. Cool.

The intern we have right now at work is driving this....

200.jpg

I went up to him the day after I saw that he was driving it and the conversation went like this:
Me: "Hey man, nice 200!"
Him: "Nice what?"
Me: "Nice 200."
Him: "Huh?"
Me: "Your Land Cruiser, the truck that you're driving!"
Him: "Oh, yeah, thanks. My dad gave it to me. It's ok."
Me: "........(staring at him)...........Ok then!" and I walked away.

I'm surprised by the amount of people that don't care/don't know about what vehicle they are driving!

****Edit**** Ha ha I realized that what I said below wasn't clear. I was referring to what the kid said and nothing that @DanTheMan said. I totally quoted the wrong post and apologies to DanTheMan. Many times I think I am being more precise with what I am saying than I am.****End Edit****

Maybe it is unfair, but the (edit- kids) statement just reeks of an entitled mentality. That thought process is like a disease for so many people. I have reached the point where I appreciate that with lots of hard work (and a fair amount of luck,) I can say that I worked for everything that I have. It is tough to see sacrifice and work as a gift, but they are. They both make attaining the goal so much more worth it.

I also saw a good looking 4runner a little while back. It was on US6 heading towards Nederland at Mayhem Gulch. I talked to him about the bumper because it looked really good. He said that it was a new Hefty aluminum design. He said that with the with the Warn 10k Platinum winch, it only added about 39 lbs to the vehicle. Not too shabby if one has the coin.

I also happened by this awesome 60 series a while back and just forgot to toss it up. It said that it was a vehicle for www.HorizonExcursions.com which is a nonprofit raising money for amputees.

I'm not sure what you're saying here... As I read it, I think Dan is saying the same thing you are. This kid with the 200 is driving a pretty expensive car and he doesn't even know what it is. He didn't work for it, it was given to him and he surely doesn't appreciate it.

I can admit that I have the disease of being a gearhead and a car enthusiast so I also think it's sad that many people out there don't care or know what they are driving. I don't think that makes me an elitist, but rather my heart pains for people who don't have any emotional attachment to the hunks of steel and plastic that they own and operate. IMHO they are missing out on one of the fantastic things this life has to offer.

Then again, I probably need psychological help for my unhealthy love for these inanimate objects. :hill:

Should have smacked him across the mouth and taken his keys away

To be fair though, the vast majority of people simply do not care about cars at all. The younger generation of drivers in particular care less than any generation before them according to most research I've seen. They see cars as utilitarian and things like Uber and public transit as being more logical and easier and sometimes even less expensive depending on where they live. If you're on this forum, you are on the extreme opposite end of that spectrum however, and none of us here could fathom not appreciating receiving any Land Cruiser as a gift. But we are the weird ones since most people could not care less about their car and look at it as transportation only. If anything, I'd rather a kid be modest and shrug off a compliment about a 200 then being some dbag bragging about it and being clueless and wheeling wrecklessly and just generally being an arrogant entitled jerk. We've had interns here at work who show up in a 3 year old M5, brand new temp tag Porsche Macan Turbo, Tesla Model S P85D, etc. and trust me those guys are nearly intolerable with their arrogance. Sounds like your guy is just indifferent and doesn't care rather instead, which IMO is much better.

MPR in Colombia is one of the larget makers of those tops. Virtually all Colombian rigs came with no top or soft top only, so rarely have true OEM roofs. These are pretty cool though as they ventilate to the rear of the truck & usually have built in speaker holes & such. Sometimes they have fiberglass amby doors & sometimes just one big rear door. I'm not sure if that was year specific, or just depended on what you wanted. They aren't OEM, but they are usually original to the truck, so I don't necessarily think they discount the value, so to speak. But I do like the OEM roofs better in terms of looks. But I also actually prefer the square bezels personally. Except of course, for the stamped bezels. They are the coolest of all bezels.

Brazilian trucks aren't really 40 series Land Cruisers, even though they share the lineage & a lot of parts. They are (variants of depending on model) 40 series or 55 series Banderiantes, made by Toyota Brazil, mainly due to import restrictions in Brazil.

Ha ha I totally realized that I didn't convey my thought clearly when I reviewed it again. Whoops. I kept the post, but edited it to be (hopefully) more clear.

If it's only "ok," how about you let me take that off your hands for say 15k. Then you have plenty of money for a sweet scooter to go with your man bun. Much easier to find a parking spot too, and fits your boring life a lot better.

Hey now, we're looking for a scooter. They ARE easier to park and run years on a thimble of gas.
