That sucks Dan, my condolences.
I suggest checking your attachment points for your axle, ie upper and lower links. I hope it didn't rip the welds on the mounts. If its just the axle and some body damage then ifmt should be an easyish fix. Let me know if you need any help. I'm not a pro but I can take stuff apart, its the getting it back together that I have issues with!

Not to steal the thread....

My brother had a lightly-damaged low-miles Jeep Cherokee and the buy back price was $250. It went through a barb-wire fence and the repaint cost was beyond the value. He fixed the car for $350 in parts and paint.

My old FJ60 (owned by a buddy) was vaporized (transmission essentially fell out on the ground), engine moved up 6" and forward 6". Buy back price was $2500 - should have been $500. This was 20 years ago when FJ60s were not of great value or interest. Geico made every step of the insurance process so bad that my friend hired a lawyer just so they could get medical payments. Took him a full year to recover from this accident.

Dan I will try and find my paper work from my truck when it was totaled from the hail storm 3 years ago. I thought we did pretty well considering they paid me more for the truck than they did for our house. Insurance sucks.

Thank you Adam! I really appreciate the offer! The frame didn't show anything wrong visually. It looks like the tire took most of the impact and the axle on that side took the remainder and dissipated the energy while bending lol

That'd be great Dan!

SITUATION UPDATE: So my insurance ended up totaling the 4Runner, I wasn't too surprised by that. They offered me a fare $ amount to keep it. I was able to find a whole 4.10 e-locker rear axle last weekend at Toyo Pros, great yard by the way! Good selection and good people to deal with. The plan right now is to paint the axle and get it ready for install. I ordered a complete e-locker wiring harness from 12voltguy.net. Hopefully I'll have the axle in within a month and then I need to look around for a body shop.... I've got some spare doors and I'll be getting that bottom part of the C pillar cut out from a 4Runner that was at Martin Supply Inc. up in Windsor.

That's sexy. Taking a photo from the other side nothing looks wrong! What a shame. Glad to see it being repaired!

@On the RX might have tips for you, his 4R is set up well and has crazy travel:

Thank you Jimmy! I'm hopefully meeting with the body shop this week, and yeah, Adam's 4Runner is set up well!

What coils are you running up front? My tundra coils did not settle much. My front lc80s on the rear lost about .25 inches after a few months with working them. The rear still sat a little higher before I added the rear bumper (170#s) and I will almost hit the bump stops when loaded to camp. Debating on air bags or a stiffer rear coil in the future. I wish they made a progressive rate spring that was comparable im height to the stock 80 front coil.

I don't have expirience with those. Curious how much lift you got in the rear with the 891s.

Having just gone through the insurance shitshow with my totaled 100 a few months back, feel free to hit me up with questions. The basic premise of my advice is to keep pushing until you feel you've reached a figure that's fair. Every settlement offer I received from the insurance company came with the tagline "this is our best and final offer" - as it turns out, they sent me five "best and final offers", and I wound up walking away with 50% more cash than their initial offer, as well as my Slee rear bumper (easily the most costly aftermarket mod on the rig).
I also added $25k in "aftermarket modification" insurance with Geico on my new 100, for a very modest increase in my premiums. Totally worth it to look into this on your next rig, if you didn't have it already.

Yeah, insurance companies always do these tricks with "best and final offers" for their potential clients or existing ones.
