Maps please like on your last trip Dan? :D

If you insist. :hill:

All the pics I have posted so far are in the vicinity of The Doll House (circled in green). This map shows our route in from the Hans Flat Ranger Station. It was about 42 miles to the campsites and it took us right at 4 hours to get there from the Ranger Station. That was Friday.

After spending Friday and Saturday nights at The Doll House we headed for The Maze Overlook Campsite on Sunday morning. This route was about 39 miles and took close to 4 hours again as I recall.

These shots were taken about where the red circled area is on the map, looking eastward generally.

This is the last batch. These are all from The Maze Overlook Campsite on Sunday night. The sun was already set when I started shooting, so they are twilight but you get the idea.

Here you can see Perry's sleeping bag in the center and the propane firepit in the lower right.

There you go. That's all I have.

If you haven't been to The Maze you really need to go. It is a LONG drive but more than worth it.

The only adjective I can find that fits it perfectly is "magical".

Great shots Dan!

I could pack it all back up today and head back out there, especially after seeing your pics, but I am pretty sure I am upside down on hall passes..

I wonder if my hall passes are issued the same as work vacation days, off the calendar year...:D

Yes Martin - kudos for planting that idea. 6 of us 9 did the 10+ mile loop with 1,500' elevation change. Its so much easier to hike at that elevation and was mostly level hiking (gradual canyons except for in and out). I was prepared to go it alone, but thrilled everyone went. Your idea of going to Maze Overlook that way on foot would have been great. A night in the canyon bottom would be really cool, and little gear needed for one night in the desert. I want to do more hikes now.

You wanta da pics. You gotta da pics. . . . . Let me also take a moment to thank Chris for mentioning this run to me and thank everyone else for allowing me to come along. It was pretty epic and, though the drive was long for me, I'd definitely be interested in future expedition-style trips. Also, if anyone wants copies of my pics PM me and I'll send you a disc.

None of these pics were processed in any way. Right outta the camera.

Group shot on the way down from Green River.

On the way down one of the Flint Trail switchbacks that didn't have snow.

A couple more switchback pics showing the snow covering we encountered. While most parts weren't too bad there were a few steeper areas where all you could was proceed as slow as possible, try not to lock up the wheels, and slide down for 20-30-40 feet. Kinda like a log flume. Good stuff.

Couple of FJs in the "red zone" as I call it. There were many different types of landscapes encountered on these trails.
IMG_1929.jpg

Our campsite for the first two nights was Doll House #2. The rest of the guys were in Doll House #1.

Our pooper setup which Chris picked out. Great choice. It was cold and shaded in camp in the mornings but then you walked out here and and the sun hit you hard. You could drop trou and do your thing without even getting goosebumps on your cheeks.
IMG_1981.jpg

The view from the turd-bagger was pretty awesome too. Gotta be one of the best pooper-views in the world. POV shot.

More to come.

Chris and Daniel at our camp getting breakfast on for the rest of the crew. I should comment that we ate like kings. Instead of each person making their
own meals, we shared duties and each meal was a real gut-stuffer. *rubs belly*
