I'll be honest Ken the tax credit situation has become a bit complex with the Inflation Reduction Act. Effective 1/1/23, there is a price limit of $80k ("MSRP is the retail price of the automobile suggested by the manufacturer, including options, accessories and trim but excluding destination fees.") as you mentioned, but there is also an adjusted gross income limit and a "final assembly" requirement that will soon also include supply chain requirements of where raw materials originate from and where they are assembled. The guidance has been delayed through March 2023, but it could render the vast majority of EVs ineligible for the federal tax credit. I hope they revisit the guidance when they realize the IRA has some unintended consequences regarding EV adoption.
I haven't driven a dual motor version of the platform yet (my team should get one in February), but from what I have heard from test and development they are really liking it and haven't seen much compromise. Here is a short video from instagram and an article with more detail and info about the new setup. The initial quad motor setup has been supplied by Bosch, but the upcoming motor variants are all in house which is pretty cool.
Rivian will offer two variants of its Dual-Motor AWD system in 2023: a standard version and an enhanced variant.
