I need as many votes as possible. Seeing as we aren't going to have a meeting next month because of Cruise Moab. So I'm going off of this poll.

I thought the nissan guys had adopted it on the BRD side like UB said....

I think if it truly is open the sure we could adopt it... but we'd need somebody to step up and call it their own, set up clean up runs, maint. runs etc. I feel like sometimes we don't have too many folks that really wanna manage that stuff so i'd be worried it'd turn into another type of thing that gets passed around.

I have gone a little cold on this also. We have a lot of members, but not many attend our clean-up runs, and even fewer go to both trails. So add in a third, and I think our numbers get even smaller. I worry it would become an either/or deal with some, where they'd either do Argentine or Kingston? someone counter that.

And has been said, there's nothing wrong with any club running any trail, and cleaning up stuff and logging the hours. We don't need to officially adopt Kingston to have an impact there, heck let's do a joint run or something with those Nissan guys.

i think Tim is right on that. for me personally anyway..
the only "club runs" i get time to do every year are cleanup runs and even then it's not always both trails each time.
i thinkif an official 3rd one was added it could take away from the two..
and i also like the comment about unofficial kingston help..we could add focus without adding official responsibility

We have maybe 2 trail clean up runs a year? One for Jenny Creek and one for Argentine Pass, right? What is one more trail run per year to clean up another trail? We had over 60 members show up at the meeting the other night, I don't see why we could not add one more trail to take care of. I think it is a great idea and would love to sponsor another trail.

I personally think a requirement of club membership should be adopt a trail work hours for each member!

Well that will probably be the day I'm no longer able to be a member.

Initially, I thought this would be a no-brainier yes. Then I remembered, I have never attended any RS cleanup run. Not trying to avoid it, in fact I try to make every RS run that I can and ultimately my goal is to get out and go wheeling at least once a month.

If I haven't even been on a cleanup run, how could I have the authority to vote to adopt another trail, it's like I'd be volunteering the time of other people because I can't commit.

I love Kingston Peak, I go there all the time. I clean up as much as possible whatever trail I'm on. The Jenny Creek trail has lost all appeal to me since the reroute. I probably won't endure the Rollins Pass trail just to endure the new Jenny tree stump trail very often anymore, cleanup or not.

I don't like bureaucracy, or making unnecessary commitments, so I will vote against adopting another trail because I likely won't be there to help with any official "cleanup" run. I will be picking up all the trash I see on all of my favorite trails which will be the ones that am am on.

Really don't understand that logic. I can't (won't) make it to a clean up run, so I vote that the entire club should not adopt a trail?

90ish members and its the same handful of people on the work groups. Without volunteers many more trails would be closed and closing. Giving back is like doing dishes after you eat!

Agreed. We all clean up trails when we are out on our own. One afternoon a year does not seem like a huge issue, and is a bigger show of what the club can do as a whole.

Maybe we can make every club run also a trail cleanup and try to have more frequent runs on our adopted trails?

I will do my best to make a cleanup run. I have two teenage athletes though so I can't make further commitments with my time. I think it is more appropriate to require that if somehow you are a RS member but have never attended a cleanup run you have to vote no here. If that is the case, like with me, you have already voted with your actions, even if unintentionally. My vote is only for me, I don't see the logic how it forces the entire club should not adopt a trail. My logic is just that I don't always know when I get to wheel, until I get to wheel. I will commit to cleaning that trail that day.

I don't understand the logic of your message. The poll is should we adopt a third trail. It is an individual vote based on what you think we should do.

I have attended several clean-up runs on jenny Creek, but the last few years I haven't been able to make it. I have been working a lot of weekends and late nights and as a result haven't been to a lot of meetings or trail runs.

I guess if volunteer hours are a requirement, I would have to be canned. I am volunteering at CM, leading two trails, gunning a 3rd and work tech inspection.

Volunteering is a great way to give back, it isn't always easy for some of us. Everyone's situation is different. I have always liked this club because it has been pretty open and easy going. I really hope that doesn't change.

Like UB said it is always the same folks volunteering and adding a 3rd trail wouldn't be a good idea as it increases the burden for those who can spare the time to volunteer. Especially since many others already think the trail has been spoken for.

Hopefully, a few more years of work and I can reduce my schedule volunteering more. Until then I have a lot of other things going on.:twocents:
