Umm yes and no. Not sure I want to hike 5miles with it so we may have to improvise. Or harvest one night and fry another.

Marco, most of Montana had record snow fall and a decently wet summer from what folks have told me. We have no fire bans around Bozeman but I know we are heading further north. The smoke from Cali is killing me though... it is thick and I literally had ash on the 100 this morning when we woke up. So sad. Keep your chin up California.

Is anyone bringing a chainsaw? I have found them to be a useful tool up here as there's a ton of trails that NOBODY has been down in a LONG time. Most trails here don't receive any traffic until hunting season begins.

Looks like a possible Stage 1 ban in affect for some sections of the breaks???

Might be a good thing for us to check in as we make our way north. Maybe check in with the Lewiston field office?

Or if your able to find out any other info Drew that would be awesome.

Hope that smoke clears out in time for our run:eek:.

I should be able to head out early Sat. as well. Glad to be hitting the inversion camp, could probably also hit the 'best bathroom ever' site in the bighorns with minor changes to the plan.

I can bring my little saw. It packs nice and cuts pretty good.

Yea I was going to ask about fire options and whether we should bring some wood. Not sure how much forest we'll be in versus plains/high desert? I'm a Montana novice...

Bear concerns? Can we poop and bury, or do we have to store it in Marco's trasharoo?

the answer is always...

...Marcos trasharoo..

update from my end...work responsibilities reared their ugly head. I'm going to try to meet ya'll for the last few days. maybe head out Wed? planning to work with perry on possible location and the APRS crowd to hone in on exact location.

As I recall, we'll mostly be in plains/river bottoms. So I don't think bears are much of an issue there. The inversion camp will require bear precautions though.

Shawn, Ill be on APRS. Hope you can make it!

-edit-

Looks like fire restrictions will be a strong possibility depending on the counties we are camped in. https://firerestrictions.us/mt/

The only thing Im not sure about is what a 'local burn ban' entails (green on the map).

Thanks to Matt, Ive successfully registered for the forum and I am IN!

Sounds like the raft situation is handled?

With regard to the potential fire ban, I ordered a propane fire-pit (https://outlandliving.com/shop/outland-firebowl-deluxe/) for a previous trip and it didn't make it in time but its here now... If memory serves, those are ok during fire bans?

To those leaving Saturday morning, I can join in the caravan.

Jackson, if you want to car pool and split the driving I am definitely down for that. My number is 443-223-9025.

Awesome Chase!

Never hurts to have the fire pit.

Perry we are rolling out Saturday morning and we'll see you up there. :thumb:

As for fire bans, most of Montana has moved to more elevated fire bans in the past week. Most of our wildfires are burning west of where we will be playing but I haven't landed on any concrete info for the area we are in. As we get to town on Saturday we'll get the skinny. :thumb:
