I thought that was only for renewals.

I registered my bike online as new and it was easy. Just took a few weeks to get my sticker in the mail.

So looking at this website again tonight. Looks pretty clear that a motorcycle needs to also display the OHV sticker, when on a "trail". Has this wording changed at all since we first started talking about this?

“All OHVs and motor vehicles (including motorcycles) that display a valid Colorado or out-of -state license plate must also display a current Colorado OHV use permit sticker when operated on designated OHV trails in Colorado."

http://cpw.state.co.us/buyapply/Pages/RegistrationsOHV.aspx

But licensed trucks aren't allowed on these trails then, is that correct? So trail must mean single track? And all forest roads are roads, not trails. Just want to make sure I'm reading this right.

Most BLM "roads" are trails. Jenny Creek is actually a trail also!

You have look at the MVUM to decipher what is a road vs trail. Motorcycle or full size requires sticker on trails (rampart, Jenny creek, Taylor Park, etc). Sticker not required on roads (e.g. Argentine Pass)

At least form the BRD we haven't gotten much clarity yet on how it will be enforced. Last time I talked to them about it was before a Jenny Creek workday and they mentioned plated vehicles were fine on the trail, I am sure if pressed they would recommend OHV Stickers. Now, for a non plated motorcycle they'd want to see a OHV sticker and have been there while it was being actively enforced. For a plated bike it gets a little confusing... BUT I get an OHV sticker for mine anyways. My *guess* based on what i've heard is you would probably be OK but only after a discussion.....but maybe not.

To further confuse things I also get a snowmobile sticker for the winter months.

Every year I renew both the Colorado OHV and Black Hills OHV tags on Wild Rice. Colorado is a grumble point but SD the money actually goes toward trail preservation and maintainance.
