Hey Steve, do the bench seats use hog rings? I haven't started taking mine apart yet to see the internals.

Yes for the seat backs.

I think I got some cascade ones off Amazon. They come with hog rings and have padded grips. Hands hurt pretty good after a bit with some steel ones I had. The padded grip is nice.

I took a picture tonight of the factory hog rings on my 1976 FJ40 seats

I didn't use hog ring pliers for years - just used needle-nose vise grips and another pair of small vise grips. I bought the Harbor Freight hog ring pliers and they are fine. If you were a pro, doing this daily, you'd want to up your game, I suppose.

Pretty sure BMW seats were created by the devil, so I wont be doing anymore BMW seats. Well I will but it will be $10,000 per seat. These have turned out great though. The seats heaters were sewn between the fabric in the original covers so I needed to remove all the seams to get them out to reuse them. The rest wasn’t bad accept for were the leather goes into the back panel. Took all my strength and it is held in with pressure not hog rings, pretty sure a robot did it because my arms feel like they are going to fall off.

Bmw seats are finally all complete and back to Satchel. I started on my 68’ cut some generic foam for the back jump seats and they turned out OK. Good enough fornthis truck but could use some thicker material. This was using a 2” foam with using part of the original horse hair our whatever they call it.

Super impressed with how well these came out! Can't wait to throw them in the 62 if I can ever get it back.

68’ FJ40 interior in Coral. Front seats turned out great.

I need that done on the '69 I just bought. And the front bench seats.
