Hello, I have an 88 FJ 62 and I need to replace the high-pressure power steering line. The original one is proving to be more of a bear to remove than I have time for anybody have a shop that might be able to build one

Thank you

Whisler Bearing in Colo Springs made a custom hydraulic hose for my tractor - likely can do one for you. They have a Denver location.

Pirtek around 58th and I-25 made for my LS swap. They had an LS PS pump to AN adapter. Made a hose with AN on both ends. AN to Toy gearbox adapter. Was about $100 and they did it while I was there. Works great. Has something like a 12,000 PSI burst rating

Best to bring in your existing hose. You posted you cannot remove existing hose. How will you install a new hose if the old hose remains attached?

I actually purchased a new hose to put on so I can bring that in that way they can see the fittings. I am literally going to use a Dremel tool to cut off the old line as close to the frame as possible.
I’m just going to leave it attached to the frame right underneath the body if I ever get in there and raise the front clip or do any additional work I’ll think about replacing it with the stock power steering line

Really appreciate all the info. Thank you.

that used to be John Denver’s
Yes! The John Denver FJ40. I was told it was Jason Carlisle that saved it from rotting out in a field near Aspen. And honestly, it had almost zero rust when I bought it earlier this year so either it never rusted or Jason did some serious alchemy on this rig.

Yep that was mine !!
I didn’t do any of the body work and it was in the plans but had to sell when a company I worked for decided not to pay me 250K

Still upset about that but had a family to feed

Excited to see it and meet Justcruisin to share the story

I even have a copy of the Title with Dushendorffs name

I made my own lines for my FJ40 using Aeroquip fittings and hose. It is simple and very reliable. I don’t have the factory engine, but I do have a pump with metric threads. You would need to get an adapter to go from 16mm, 18mm or whatever the 60 fittings are to -6 or -8an fittings. Pretty common stuff.

There are quite a few brands of these field style fittings and some of them are interchangeable, but I have found that it is best to use the same brand of hose and fitting if you are not sure. The Parker Store has their own style and they are also a high quality product in my opinion.
