Due to the crazy weather the higher elevations have been having, I've had to change plans a bit and move the wheeling location for this run. It will be a little different but this will still be a lot of fun.
What: Gulches Run
- This will be a fun weekend with the intent on the gulches near Divide, CO.
Who: Anyone with a capable rig with 33" or larger tires. This will be a good chance to come if you're new to the sport and we'll get you through whatever we encounter.
When: June 21-23 I will try to travel down on Thursday, the 20th to secure a campsite for us. If you also have some flexibility and can get down there on Thursday, please let me know. I suspect the majority of people will come into camp after getting off of work Friday and that's cool too!
Where: Camp will be somewhere near here:
39°03'08.8"N 105°15'08.6"W I'm not sure of the exact location yet but I'll update within the next couple of days. If you have a good location in mind, please message me.
Here is information on the trails we'll be doing:

Gear: Recovery gear and an alternative toilet system.
Bring: Good food, firewood and a great attitude. I’d like to do a potluck that Saturday night as well as a BYOB sharing bucket. In other words, bring along a 6 pack of your favorite craft beer (or spirit) and we can all share. Let me know what dish you’d like to bring and I’ll keep the OP updated appropriately.
Expect: A fairly long day on Saturday. I'd like to do Hackett and Longwater gulches at a minimum and maybe even Metberry if we have time. The trails are moderate to slightly difficult with Hackett being the most challenging. There are a few water crossings that might be a little challenging with all of the run-off but we'll see when we get there. We're not going to put anyone in any danger and if the water is too high we'll just turn around.
Vehicles: This run will require capable vehicles with
at least 33” tires. Lockers or ATRAC aren't required but they will probably help on Hackett. Also, with the water crossings, you need to ensure you have everything in good working order. (i.e. - axle vent tubes in a high spot, air intakes in a good spot not to take on water.) You shouldn't need a snorkel but you'll need to check how your air intake is situated so that it doesn't contribute to sucking in water.
Radios: HAM is preferred but CB is ok too. Either way, please ensure you have a good, working form of either one.
This will be a good time as
@Mendocino and I will make sure of it! For the sake of space at the campground, I'm going to have to limit it to 10 trucks so post up if you want to go. Oh, and let me know what you'll bring to the potluck as well!
