Man....you guys had a ball! Surely you didn't stash all of them today or did you split up? I snagged the one out of my back yard already......that was a biatch! You hadn't posted a picture yet so I went in from the top (closest to the location) Fun stuff! Just laid it all out via satellite image....should make it much easier!

skunked! We're out!

Lin and I are out. We're experienced geocachers but you stumped us at coyote and shortwalk. Maybe I'm using the wrong dataset.
Coyote put us at the pin for the 5th hole for example.good luck y'all.

I've only hit the Marshall Mesa one so far and it was several digits away from the coordinates too! You guys should have use Lat and Longitude instead of UTM! I am not sure we will have enough time tomorrow to score 4 more either. Too far apart and you guys had too much fun hiding them! I might sneak over to White Ranch yet today....and if I do that then Red Rocks is only a blip from there. How many envelopes are in each cache? It would suck to dog down one in Denver area just to find it empty! Now that the clouds have moved in it's gonna make it that much tougher as I've noticed overcast sky's will greatly effect GPS readings!

Struck out at White Ranch! Wife and I looked a long time! I took my Gamin V also (along with my Lowrance Expedition) and it showed exact same spot! You posted the green coffee can? Is that just one of the caches? The one I found on Marshall Mesa was in a gallon Ziplock under a rock weighted Safeway bag. You guys shouldn't have hid them so well.....takes to long to find them!

Thanks for the Lats and Longs but if you used UTM to mark the spot initially then going to seconds now won't help much.

Hmmmmm...our datum is different for the Latatude!

Example. My White Ranch converts to N 39 47' 54.7" and W105 14' 53.1"

We are 50ish feet off on coordinates!

Lin and Stephen are back in! (We have a full hand)

So, after getting skunked, finding only kujo the dog, 6 hobo camps, 2 pairs of underpants, dead rabbit, live skunk, and a golf ball we went to lunch. (Always a good idea.)

We got to thinking, "Ya know we really don't suck this much at geocaching. Something isn't right."
Changed our map base and everything worked perfectly. It took less than 3 hours to get 5 cards and get back home.

Thanks guys! You showed us that it pays to READ THE DIRECTIONS.
Which flies in the face of me and most men. "No Lin, those are just SUGGESTED operating instructions. Just throw them away, I got this figured out!"

So, people having trouble: The only hint you need: GO READ THE DIRECTIONS! The map coordinates are all spot on.

Rudeboy your a genius!

"Friday night the GPS coordinates will be posted, so you will have Saturday and Sunday to get your hand. Coordinates will be in UTM format and the map datum will be NAD27 CONUS."

I didn't go back and read the beginning. Hmmm....Still not sure we will have enough time tomorrow but maybe if I find 3 aces it will be good enough! ;)

UB Sounds like you have muggled someones Geocache on Marshall Mesa all of the locations have the same camo can other than size of the can. Lats/longs to UTM conversions are pretty accurate in my Geocaching experience. Keep looking none are hidden very hard. Red rocks will be the toughest due to reflectivity :thumb: We will have extra cards at dinner if you are short:beer:

Lin and Stephen's Experience

How we did it: We grabbed Lin's Garmin Nuvi 350 navigator and converted the UTM to degrees and minutes since the Nuvi doesn't know what UTM is.

(Our Nuvi is named, "Karen." Example: "Well I don't know where the flippin' hotel is; ask Karen!")

So "Karen" got us to every parking lot without any wrong turns. This is a good thing since my Garmin Vista Color (Wedding gift from Lin.) doesn't show many small roads since I have detailed Moab maps loaded right now. This saved us from driving in circles trying to get closer to the waypoints. Lin, my Human Navigator, hates driving around lost and in circles.

Once in the parking lot, I stuck the UTM coordinates in my GPS. From there we walked to within 5 feet of each cache. Piece of cake! These would all be classified as "Easy" geocaches. We hit 5,7,8,9,10 and all had plenty of cards this afternoon. We pulled an envelope at random from each bucket.

Here is a picture of our Toyota MR-S (Geocaching Edition) in the parking lot near the Coyote waypoint.

Dave was the pitcher who broke his arm throwing in a game. They re-played the video on TV for days. Then, he discovered he had cancer in that arm.
