The one day I have to stay late at work. Lol.
Put me in as a tentative. Sounds like a fun run. I'll try to make it up in time.

We are probably 50/50 at this point. At all depends on my surgery date, which is currently scheduled for the 11th, but I suspect it will be pushed to later in the month.

If it is, we are in!

:pirate:

Make us 100%. Surgery has been rescheduled to the 25th. :) :pirate: :thumb:

Well I'm probably not the only one thinking this, but I'll say it- what do you guys think of running Kingston? armed with shovels, and full bellies, I think 40 people could have a very positive impact on stuck 80/jeep condition... I suspect a recovery lesson or two would present itself also.

Sounds interesting. It'd be worth doing some recon after this storm to see how bad it is before taking a bunch of people up there.

I ran Argentine Pass on Saturday and ended up pulling 3 stuck trucks out! My buddy who was riding shotgun had a blast and learned a lot :D

So far the report from Rollinsville is 8" of snow and still snowing.. looks like it's tapering off now.

We'll see what the next couple of days bring, but should the group agree to run up there I'm pretty confident we could get to the big puddle area (now more of a big fence) without issue, going up the back side through Apex. That would potentially serve as a good potluck spot, and also a base camp from which to dispatch some of the more built and ambitious up towards the stuck Jeep & 80. the 80 is parked at the parking area where you would hike down to the lake, below James Peak, just below that rocky descent... those who were on the SNR last year remember turning around at the top of this descent. Those who were on the SNR in 2007 might remember me getting stuck and sliding off the trail just before that switchback.

regardless of which trail we choose, please bring a good shovel- something that could actually move some snow or dirt. And solid boots, some snow pants, jacket, hat, warm gloves etc. Probably a given at this point at least one strap is coming out, not worried at all about the group's ability to deal with that, but it's a whole lot worse when someone is standing there shivering in wet jeans.

Square bladed shovels work well for shoveling snow. I have one with a fiberglass handle in case someone wants to borrow it for the run. I also mentioned in the other thread that I have spare winch cable that could be used as winch extensions if needed.

On a plane...

If that's the plan, then I am going to have to politely back out. I was going to bring 2 of 3 girls with me and while I wouldn't mind doing that on my own, it isn't something I want to do with them. Bec will be gone most of the evening with the third daughter so I'm on duty and won't be able to leave them at home.

Keep me posted on what the plan evolves into.

I may also have to bail if this is going to turn into a rescue/recovery operation. I was planning on having Linda and our granddaughter and one of the things we have done is always emphasize how family-friendly and safe this run is.

Guys I think you both raise very good points as the 'Spooky has been family oriented in years past. I know that our fearless leader won't loose sight of that while also figuring out a way to help a stranded 'wheeler if possible, this is still a brainstorm at this point.

So brainstorming... we could always split the group into a "family run" and "snow recovery team" if needed?

I like this idea.
