IIRC Tesla bought that factory and was making vehicles there until they sought refuge in TX. I'm not surprised there have been issues with anything that has come out since 2020.

6/12/2024 New update on the Tundra - Currently my truck is still in the body shop being repaired from hail damage but is nearly finished. The hood was replaced in full due to damage which is nice but does have to be repainted. A new issue did pop up though that has me pretty upset. During the storm, the upper break light at the top back side of the truck was cracked and damaged allowing water to leak into the cab. The body shop tried to order a new one but they are on back order until whenever apparently. I didn't fully believe them so I went ahead and contacted Stevinson Toyota and they confirmed that Toyota isn't even making the part right now and is on back order for several months.

So now my only option is to try and find a good used one or the body shop said that they can put a bunch of tape and plastic around the damaged area to try and seal it off from moisture and water for the next several months until they can procure a new one then take it back in to have them drop the headliner and install it. One hiccup in this is my particular upper break light has the dual cameras in it.

Lastly, I just got some more amazing news from Motorbicuit. Apparently no dealerships are accepting Tundras in as a trade until toyota has a fix for the engine recall. So people are essentially stuck. Sweet!!

@RayRay27, if it makes you feel any better I ran into the parts hold problem a few years ago when I needed to get a replacement CV axle. Sometimes the manufacturer will prioritize parts when new builds need them. There's only so many suppliers and production capacity. It was about 2 months before they came back into stock. It may not be Tundra lenses specifically but maybe it's the same supplier that makes other ones and the delay is on their end.

Sorry about the other new issues. When it rains, it pours.

It is what it is. I can only control the things I can control. Again just sucks.

That just sucks. I’m scared of new vehicles….. I assumed they’d be less trouble than my old fleet 1998 100 & 2013 LX ( young compared to some of you die hard 40/60/80 folks )

It’s an all a gamble anymore. I think my new kid hauler will be an expedition or suburban….

Not a bad idea- at 6’4 im getting sick of Toyotas front seats - domestic SUVs just have more legroom and more comfortable seats. Also looking forward to 400+ miles per tak

I was considering the new tundra….(and back on topic)

This SUCKS Ray. I really, really, really want a new truck...not anymore. I keep hearing so much crap about recalls, CELs, Electrical gremlins...I'm not interested in any of that! I'm sorry you're having to deal with this... Tundra's aren't cheap. Thanks for being open about your problems and bad luck.

What about leasing??? At least if you have problems, you only have to deal with it for three years.

Sequoias definitely have more leg room. Seat is pretty comfortable to me. I don't think they quite get 400 miles on a tank though.
