Just one question:

Coach seats, Tourist seats, or Parlor seats?

Coach is cheapest.
Parlor doesn't allow anyone under 21 (I don't know if anyone is bringing kids)

I'm leaning towards Coach seats. But I'll give it until this afternoon for input, otherwise I'll make an executive decision on that front.

Dan

EDIT-coach seats. $44 less than tourist.

Minor details....

Was thinking Coach for the price.

My wife *may* come along. Depends on if there are still bees swarming she needs to catch then, or if she has to go back to work. She's done it before, in fact it was one of our first "dates" so to speak--chasing the train and taking pictures of it, exploring Sublette, and then riding the train.

The reservation is started.

Reservation Number:1196588
It's under my name: "Dan Silbaugh"
and I put the note RISING SUN GROUP on the reservation.

It's #1: Antonito to Chama by bus, return by train on Friday, June 5.

What you need to do is call the C&TS at (888)286-2737 and add yourself to the reservation. They will take your credit card over the phone. Coach tickets are $99 for adults.

Post up once you've got yours. The railroad will assign seats the morning of the ride, so buying tickets on this reservation will put us all together.

Paid this morning for my dad and me.

A couple things to note from call:
1) Tickets are only refundable (with fee) up to 48 hours before trip. Reservation can be moved up to different trip up to this time for $6 fee.
2) No open toed shoes on train for safety.
3) Bring warm sweatshirt or coat for train ride.
4) 10% discount for AARP (Dad?) and veteran status...other discounts as well. Ask about them. Kelly gave me a 10% discount for being a disabled vet.
5) Really looking forward to the trip!

Edit: even though I told her we wished to be seated with the group, she gave me a different confirmation number: 1196594

Separate question about the meals...how many meals should I plan on having in the truck for camping/lunch/etc? It sounds like there will be a few dinners/lunches/breakfast in town, so I may only have to plan for a few meals around the fire or in the truck, correct?

Thanks!

Camping, in Chama at the RV park, Wed., Thursday? When do we move camp to Antonito? And where. Will this camp be accessable for an small RV? There is a nice National Forest campground up from Antonito.

Camping at the Chama RV Park Thursday night (the night of the 4th), ride the train, and then go camp not far from Antonito in the National Forest. How small an RV are you talking? If it's the area I'm thinking of, you should be good, I would think. It's got solid recovery points front and rear, just in case?

When: June 4-7 2015.

Where: Chama New Mexico and Antonito Colorado.

The plan: We will be riding the Cumbres and Toltec Friday June 5th. As we get closer to the date, we will get a group reservation set up so we can all be together while on the train (wait to get tickets till thats set up). Lets plan to meet up Wed afternoon in Chama. That way we can check out the town and train yards that evening. Since we will be catching the bus in Antonito to take us to Chama on the day we ride the train, we will need to camp somewhat close Thursday night. I think it will depend on snow pack on how far in we can get on dirt roads outside of Chama. Saturday is planned to chase the Cumbres and Toltec as it makes it's way down into Antonito.

Dan, original plan was to arrive in Chama wed evening. This way we have two days to chase the train, with one day for saved for riding. Sorry for the confusion.

Dan, I have a small 21 foot travel trailer. It will go about anywhere, so I guess we are good.

The camp we are planning outside of Antonito is pretty easy to get to. Just a little strect of road that could be a little bumpy..

So....

For those interested in photographing cruisers with the train:
The Silbaugh clan is bringing two cruisers. The 61, and the Blue-Jay 40.

Two super photogenic older trucks Perry!

Dan

Awesome!!!!

I'm excited and ready for this run!! Hope to get my train ticket today. Planned to get it yesterday but getting new tires turned into a longer ordeal than expected. With that, I have to go back to the tire shop first thing Wed morning to have them look at/fix the rim they damaged. Still plan to be in Chama by at least 4pm.

So I got my ticket for the train ride on Friday:cool:.

Paul, could you please call them back at some point today? I was talking to the lady, trying to make sure you guys would be on the same car, but the reservation number you gave didn't come up in the system. They want to make sure everything is squared away for you guys before the train ride.

Alos for every one else that hasn't gotten tickets yet, when calling, all you need to do is give them the group reservation #. Don't give Dan's name. Apparently, my name is now on the group reservation:eek:.

So just give this number: #1196588

Is it Wednesday yet?
