I'm trying to get her to come along. I've got a tentative yes so far. :thumb:

Show her this. She'll have to come.

Oh. Actually that might scare her away. :bolt:

I like it with one addendum. Tim and I were talking about going up late Friday. The last switchback before heading up Leavenworth there's a right hand turn with great camping. Spacious enough it should hold several families. We were thinking about snagging these before other folk wander up the hill.

What time are you heading up Friday? I was thinking of going up around 1 but was not sure how far in this spot is.

Alright here's an update. Here's the turnoff we'll be taking to the campsite:

Dropped Pin
near Argentine Central Railroad Grade, Silver Plume, CO 80476

We'll be before or at the old stone chimney. My goal is to be in Georgetown by 7:30-8:00 Friday evening. I'm not on HAM, but I will be on CB channel 4. Anyone else interested to meet up?

Camping near Pavillion Point is a great idea!

I can try to meet up with you briefly on Friday night. I'm so far planning on landing at DIA at 5:45PM, which usually puts me back in Dumont around 7:30PM. So I can probably hop on up there if everything goes to plan.

Another idea (thanks Tim!):

Do we want to have anyone hang out at the bottom of the trail to hand our MVUMs and generally greet and talk with other users? I'll volunteer myself if nobody else is up for it.

I am definitely willing to help man "the booth" down below, if you can get us some MVUMs to pass out?? Plus whatever Stay the Trail, Tread Lightly, etc. brochures they may have as well. But ideally the use maps.

Does anyone have easy access to a Rising Sun banner?

I was up in the area today along the Guanella Pass road. I have never seen the area busier before. Just a total zoo. On the way down I saw a mini van coming down off the road from the trail... The pressure this area is getting has increased 10 fold since the guanella pass road was improved. I see changes on the horizon for the trails up around Leavenworth, Waldorf, Argentine. :( It took me an hour and 40 minutes to go from Georgetown to Idaho Springs today, traffic was insane.

So... maybe a lot of trash bags?

Dan-

I've got a box of stuff for you from Matt. Looks like there's a Trasharoo the there too. Unfortunately I have to work all weekend.

Anyone in the SW Littleton area going & willing to transport this box?

Awesome. It would be super helpful if someone could snag it for me. I'm heading out of town for work tomorrow, to return on friday evening, so it's pretty tough for me to hop down there to pick it up.

Side note: I may be having to take something other than the faux-lux. My pinon seal failed, and I'm waiting on a new pinon nut to put it all back together. Will take all of :30 one I get it, that's IF I get home on time on Friday to pick it up from Stevinson on my way home.

The 4-runner can certainly handle it, and it's plenty road and trail worthy, but it's not nearly as good for hauling out refuse (and I'm anticipating quite a bit of that).

So I'd like to know who all is planning on coming up on Friday evening. It'd be nice to all drive up together. I'll be at the McDonald's off the evergreen exit at 7:00 and promptly leave at 7:15. I'll have my CB channel 4 and will be observing HAM (no license yet). Looking forward to spending the weekend in the mountains!

I've had an undesirable change of plans and can no longer make it. I'm bummed because I've been waiting for this event.

Daughter's Isuzu Rodeo locked up its motor today (clearly I need to teach my kids about checking oil levels; can't blame anyone but myself) so we're down a vehicle and looking for a replacement. I'll post up a WTB thread separately in the For sale/wanted section; just putting it out there...

Hope to make it up Friday night before dark. (Idelle's on late shift Friday.) Would like to camp up between the creek crossings on the lower road. If anyone's up there early and can snag our regular spot across the road and just down from the cabin for us, I'd be most appreciative.!
