Advance Auto Liquidations

I had a rough idle and misfire on my 100. Hoping its a bad coil/spark plug as the most obvious/common cause here...

So I went to buy some denso spark plugs and at least one new coil. To my surprise the spark plugs were quite cheap and the denso coil, which is normal price ~$87, was just $35! Turns out a number of advance autos are liquidating/closing (https://apnews.com/article/advance-...dreds-stores-b5acd675653fe1b6b38923407f8ee882).

Bummer for me because the one at 3191 S Broadway is close and easy for me to get to. Good for me to get some deals. After I picked up my stuff I got some little things like oil and air filters at 30-50% off. The guys in store said expect prices to get even lower in a couple weeks. They are also selling all of their "rental" kits. I was eyeing a lower ball joint set, but think I'll wait and see if I can get it when they mark down again.

If you need some general supplies, wipers, etc. go check em out. Also the one just south of Sloan's lake is closing. Not sure which other ones

Whoa. That’s right by my work as you know. Might see me in the parking lot later!

whoa... thanks for the heads up! They have been my go to for Die Hard batteries...

I do feel the auto stores are somewhat saturated over here, we need another one like we need another Starbucks. In fact if you want an adventure in Broomfield just park at Burger King at 120th & Main, then you can walk to Auto Zone, O-Riley's, and Napa... if you can't find it there then 2 blocks down is Advanced Auto. I usually go to ORiley's first as they were here first (og Checker's) and I don't have to cross scary 120th..

Just found another store 6148 E County Line in Highlands Ranch is one that seems to be closing. Got two more Denso coils and some pads for F150. Combined with codes my discount was $22X off $34X!

Couldn't find a list of which stores are closing in the area, so I just kept changing stores and checking the prices online.

Let me know if 4545 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204 pops up. That's my local shop.

EDIT: They seem to have lots on sale. No Denso coils.

Yup 4545 W Colfax is one of them. I bought the coil they had in stock a few days ago.

Is there a list of stores or are you just checking prices?
I was specifically looking for coils so I just checked prices to figure it out. The ones liquidating inventory are 50% or more off.

Remember which brand?
Carquest Premium. NCV69170

They are clearly remanufactured/rebooted, and these both had Toyota metal on them. Will cross our fingers the boots last longer than some others.

Thanks Dan. That's the key, aftermarket CV axles that aren't Toyota made are worth right at about $44 (fine for spares or to get you home).

OTOH a factory used CV is worth every penny of that. Even if you find the boots are junk or the joint itself was actually cracked the core value on them IIRC is $85 towards the next set. And factory re-boot kits aren't too badly priced.

Fort Collins is losing one.
We hauled out a TON of stuff.
No joke: Remanufactured Toyota CV axles for my sisters GX470 were $44 each.

Well done. What else?
How are basic shelf items priced?
4545 Colfax is a small store. Closest to me. I just did some browsing by vehicle and didn't find anything special.
If anyone finds something at this location they want and I can pick up for them, let me know.

General shelf items are 30-40% off.

And the rental tools aren't for rent, but they are for sale pretty cheap. My sister bought the inner tie rod wrench kit, and th full TRE service kit.

Just checked out 4545 W. Colfax.
At 30% off most of the deals are not less than ordering from Amazon and not less or close to what you can walk in and get at Walmart.
40% off is decent. They expected to take about a month and a half before they close the store.
Once they start marking more stuff down 70% I’ll come in and buy things like spray paint random stuff

This is turning out really well for a guy doing an engine swap.
At $.10 a foot it was hard not to buy 40 feet of 3/8 gates barrier fuel injection hose. They have plenty more. And I’ll have a bunch to share I imagine.
At $.70 a foot it was hard not to buy 15 feet of Gates transmission cooler hose.
The price markdowns at the store are inconsistent because they can’t keep up with tagging with the computer say. So it’s either what the tag has or less.
I also picked up a small assortment of molded 5/8 toes that will help me make clean heater line runs and hose clamps.
I’ll be back to browse their radiator hose selection after I make some bent wire of the routing I need
