Does anyone know anything about the schraeder valve on your ac compressor? I just found the valve on my high pressure side fitting on my 93 80 is leaking. Im not sure if those are kind of standard size or what to look for. I haven't started looking but definitely want the ac working before heading out to Moab. Thanks for any ideas.

They are serviceable. Any competent shop could evacuate your system, replace both valves, and recharge it. Or if your feeling like learning something new, there are some good YouTube videos on it and you can buy all the tools at harbor freight to do it your self. Probably around $400. I’d imagine a shop charges 1.5-2 hours for such a repair so you could expect about the same cost as all the tools!

If you’re interested in DIY: Last AC I did I got the manifold and vacuum pump as loaners from oriely. I think I’ve seen schrader valve and cap kits at Napa. The whole job can be done for the price of like 2 1/2 cans of Freon. Don’t overcharge it put in what it says by weight. Probably don’t need to add any oil. If it’s full of Freon still a shop will recover and recycle which is nice for the obvious reasons.

There is a valve stem replacement tool to replace it without breaking the system. If you are close to Arvada, can roll by and change it out real quick. Was just servicing the aircon on the house.

Thanks but I’m located down in Monument and the system is already empty. I’ve removed the Schraeder valve and will run by oreillys tomorrow to see if they carry replacements that will fit.
