We are going to start an on going place to post and talk about our wedding trip! Later will have a more official write up of the trip and our experience.

Yesterday was a bit of a long day with a late start but we made it to Grand Junction where @jps8460 was extremely gracious and let me borrow his 80 so I could drive and will be able to drive down the aisle later this week. This club is awesome!!! @Inukshuk drove down with us and presented the best overlanding wedding gift from everyone!!

We met up with @fyffer late in the evening by the Gunnison river. Currently we have another late start as we slowly make our way to start Rimrocker.

We made it to Moab! RR was spectacular! Yesterday we ran into weather, higher up we had grouple which turned to rain as we dropped elevation. It was foggy through sections which I loved. It felt like a very spooky October. Most of the leaves were gone in the aspens with pockets of color here and there.

After Nucla we ran into some slippery mud, braved some flooded streams as the rain was coming down pretty good at this point. We arrived to a very wet and soggy campsite. The camp gods smiled down on us, the rain cleared shortly after. Before more clouds rolled in we saw the comet!

We had a bit of a late start this morning as we wanted some of the extra slippery stuff to dry a little a bit for us as we headed into canyon country.

A local drove by camp in taco to ask us if we were doing RR, where we were headed, he a bit concerned/amused about us heading towards Moab with the weather the night before (as was I) but approved of our truck choices. He warned us about carpenter ridge and suggested we avoid it all together.

As we started we were all pretty happy that the sun had been doing a decent job of drying out sections for us, well mostly. @DomOfTheDead likes mud. We weaved through the canyons, crossed streams, saw some impressive flood repairs in lower sections and climbed up the canyons. I love seeing where we have been and where we will end up, trying to figure out where the road leads in sections you can’t see.

The views of the Dolores river and Dolores valley? Was breathtaking. Tall canyon walls, winding river with adjacent highway and pockets of cottonwoods changing colors. This isn’t a hard trail, mentally was a bit challenging as I have a fear of heights. I have been very lucky to have a very supportive partner who has encouraged me and helped me work through this fear over the years. As well as the support from @Inukshuk and @fyffer to work through this section.

Biscuit rock, well a very large rock formation that I was extremely excited to see and it’s a super cool large rock fomarion! 😂 the fauna and terrain changes a bit from either side of the Dolores as we worked towards the La Sals. Carpenter ridge was muddy, rutted out in places. People had torn it up a little. This section was spooky for me, as it was tight and on the rim. All in all the truck did its job the views were well earned.

At some point I had an encounter with a small cacti. All the years I lived in AZ, which also included a decent backpacking trip I have never been pricked by one. Thankfully it was just one spine and @fyffer removed it for me.

The La Sals are gorgeous, I can’t wait to go back and explore more of what they have to offer. Crossing into Utah had me super pumped! I knew they had state boundary signs there. Not a big enough area for group truck shot but we all squeezed together for a group selfie.

We drove through some thick aspens grooves, some were kind enough to still be changing for us! I really wanted to arrive in Moab and establish camp so we boogied down to Moab in a bit of a hurry. Seeing the big red rocks and Canyons never gets old for me. Just a couple days from now from the big day!

Eating lunch where we will be exchanging vows!!! It’s overwhelming and exciting to be at this point! Service is enough to share ramblings but not pictures. Will post pics when I can.

I’ve ran RR twice now and each time it’s own great experience even with a catastrophic trailer failure.

Did you guys stay at the ballpark campground?..that spot is awesome.

This trip sounds like a great to start a wedding as well! That mud can certainly get hairy that’s for sure.

I don’t believe so or know for sure. That first night on RR was raining pretty good or else I think we would pushed forward a little bit longer. The spot wasnt amazing its self at camp but had amazing views a short walk away.
