1st season Wyatt had a cow tag and while we saw a ton of cows they were tough shots running through the aspens at 300 yards. While we did have some run buy at 10 yards they were spikes. We’ll have to roll over is tag to 3rd season as I had a bull tag for 2nd. It was for a mgmt bull on private land. We had fun on sat lots on big trophy’s that were non shooters for me and a few small bulls we couldn’t get to. Sat evening I had a shot at a mature bull that has a club on his left side and missed. He was running with some big trophy bulls. Bull fever got to me as he was a 6x on one side and had a unique club and brow tine. Oh well, it happens and you have to move on. Sunday there wasn’t much movement at all. We saw some bulls in the am and went to see if we could get a shot at a mgt bull but when we got there they disappeared and bedded. By evening they didn’t come out til after 5. We put on a stalk and with young bulls sparing and the trophy’s raking brush we snuck in the middle of em and found a decent mgt bull. Made it count with one shot that blew up the top of the heart. He only went 10 yards. I used wyatt's tikka in 7-08 since my 06 needs a new scope. We loaded up some nosler e-tips (all copper) 140gr 43.5g ramshot big game. 1 shot blew up the top of the heart and went clean through.
We’ll be back out for 3rd with Wyatt’s cow tag and otc bull.
