@gr8fulabe - done any plowing with this yet?
I actually haven’t used it once. It is still sitting as parked in the first pic. It has soft brakes which I wanted to attend to before using it. But I’ve gotten stuck in an eternal loop of travel since the. (Funeral then holidays then work) so I haven’t done it. I owe a bunch of answers here still too. I was planning on working on it this weekend but the bitter cold killed those plans!

Abe,

Nice score! Sweet plow truck! Now you can plow the whole road in and charge your neighbors to pay for the truck?!?!? 😉😎

Did it come with chains? Is it a Meyer Plow? Which engine is in it? It did come with a trans cooler from the factory but I’d confirm if still attached.

I don’t know your knowledge on plowing but you want to put the ballast behind the wheel wells in the bed of the truck. A good rule of thumb for ballast is to find out the weight of the plow and use the same weight for ballast.

Just like underwear you can get 4 uses out of the wear edge. Like it is now. Turn it around. Turn it upside down. Turn it around again.

I’ve got a Power Bleeder w/ multiple master cylinder attachments that you can borrow if you need it? Easiest way I’ve found to bleed brakes. Especially when doing it alone.

only just now getting to try & get this thing up & running properly. It's been a hectic year. we've been lucky enough to not need it yet & just make do with trail busting, but I've got a bit of time finally & I figure with March & April comign up, it would be good to have it going now. I don't have chains for it yet, and I am not sure but I looked & don't think that the tranny cooler is still there, so that is somethign I'll have to deal with eventually. At least, I would expect it to be in front of the radiator, and I don't see one, but there also seems to be a lot of space in front of it like maybe someone removed it. It is a Meyer plow. I've never plowed before in my life, so my knowledge is zero! So I appreciate the tips!

My issue at the moment is that I can't get it to start. It was running when I test drove it (hate it when people do that) so I was a bit concerned, but it drove really well & was cheap, so I figured it was good enough. Of course when I drove off, after the deal, he told me, "hit it with some starting fluid in the mornings to get it going, then it will run all day" which also had me a bit worried. But right now all I can do is turn it over, starting fluid or no. It won't try to catch at all.

Beyond that I'm basically failing on all sorts of things right now. I bought some new bolts for the cutting edge as it was missing some, but these are too big I now realize. I also bought some new spring pin bollts (think that's what they are called) as two on this one were really crapped out. but now I can't figure out how to get them in the hole & connect to the spring. I can do one, or the other, but not both at the same time.

Any tips?

Awesome! Do you know much about the drivetrain? Looks like an external hub D44 and maybe FFD60 in the rear, 318 w 727 and NP205? Some of this era Dana axles had gear ration tags on the diff covers
I know that it is a 360 engine, and I think (but don't know for sure) that it is a dana 44 front & dana 60 rear. that is just based on what people have said about other sno fiters online. I do know that they are 8 lug axles & a 16.5" rim, which is kind of a pain in the butt. I don't know a thing about the tranny & transfer, but, again, I have seen people say NP207 online. So I'm guessing at any rate.

The OEM packaging on that truck makes it so cool!

I probably have a set of snow chains that would fit it you can have…just let me know tire size and I can confirm
That would be awesome if you can! The rims are 16.5" rims & the tires are 8.75r16.5LT which looks to be 29.5"x8.8" based on google

It would be terrific if your chains fit.
Thanks!

If it won't even sputter with Ether starting fluid, then check for (no) spark. Chryslers were famous for ballast resistor issues, so if you see one in 2 pieces on the firewall, that's worth immediately investigating. https://www.hotrod.com/how-to/mopp-1110-ballast-resistor-guide-ballast-blast-off/

1975 - not sure if your truck still has points, vs. electronic ignition, but pulling the dist. cap will solve that question.

Thanks! Thats super helpful. I’ve got the attached on the rear of the driver’s fender. Not sure what the one unattached wire goes to yet. I don’t see anything that looks like it would be right. But it could be the culprit!

I also found out I think it has a limited slip diff in the rear. Kind of cool.

Mine fit a 31x10.50 pretty well so would be big for yours. But chains can be made smaller if you have the right tools.

Not sure if videos will load directly here, but definitely no spark. Erica is usually around to turn the key for me while I do the spark plug on a ground thing. But she’s traveling for work so I went & bought a spark tester. Nothing…

Edit- apparently you can’t load videos directly.

Anyone happen to know what this plug should attach to? Thanks in advance for non Toyota help!

Thanks!
Abe

We gotta get this thing running! That truck is way too cool to not be running into town and doing it’s job plowing snow!

that looks like a “dual ballast” resistor ie 4 posts

can you see where on the control module next to it that green wire terminates to?

it seems similar to the attached, but that top left BR green wire should go to one pin of the control module connector and not splice off like that

but before all that the simple first check is with key on is there some voltage less than 12v at the coil or nah?

When energized, I had just under 12volts at both the positive & negative terminals on the coil. A dodge electronics video said that meant that the control module wasn’t ground out for some reason. Rather than chase farther, I opted to just replace both it & the ballast resistor, plus some other odds & ends I still need to do. But the bottom line is!

So next question, do we think that sound is a stuck lifter or just an exhaust leak? It’s kind of hard to hear it well in the video.

Now on to brakes!

WOOHOO! That’s awesome you got it to fire up!!! Abe, again if you’d like to use my Motive Power Brake Bleeder I’d be happy to meetup and let you borrow it.

might be a lifter... pull the valve cover and check rocker arm movement
