I'm sure many of us have thought about this at some point, but I'm just over FB!

My only reservation is that so many groups only communicate through FB and or Messenger...how to juggle the choice. The Ads and AI generated BS have pushed me over the brink!

Thoughts?

I use it only for marketplace. I may from time to time look at friends or family posts but rarely engage. You could scrape it clean of any posts and pictures and leave the shell. Then use that for any interest groups or market place. Deleting completely you won’t lose anything and probably gain more in quality for life.
I’ve always embraced technology but leaning more and more Luddite, they were on to something.

Do it and don't look back. I was on facebook back in 2015 and quit after about two years because of how toxic it is. I am on Insta but I usually uninstall the app after using it for half hour or so to catch up. I'll re-install after a few weeks again then delete. To your point all the adds and AI BS plus about half the people who post are fake (real people but don't actually go off-road).

I punted Facebook about 4 years ago. The only semi serious problem I have is staying abreast of Book Cliff Cruisers when they made their page private. Otherwise I don't miss it one bit. You have to ask yourself is it worth it? Do you really need any of the stuff on marketplace? Not having that has probably saved me untold amounts of money, too. F***zuck and the spyware he rode in on.

I was getting them regularly, then periodically, then only when I'd ask and then I dropped the ball and it's been a while. They didn't want to deal with a forum and the club isn't big enough to justify the money and maintenance. I mentioned at some point that they should ask the Rising Sun to host a subforum but that didn't go anywhere. They have a club page on Mud but it also suffers from content rot and lack of eyeballs.

I have never had the app and only logged in on my browser. During the presidential campaign of '16, the ads, the crazy people/ friends/ family got me off the fBS except for a few times over the years for marketplace or to look up someone that i lost their number and the thank yous for the b day wishes. No other social media except this weird and odd RS forum. Oh, and my feet on only 1 fan..

I deleted mine years ago. Just delete it and don't look back, it's designed to be a trap and after a month or so you'll forget you even had it.

If it were not for business I would never have even signed up for FB. I wiped the app off my phone. That helped a ton. I only access it through my laptop. Same for IG but I have that app on my phone.

Don’t stop there, delete LinkedIn data as well. I’ve been slowly scraping detail off mine and will eventually delete it or have it be the absolute bare minimum. Hate isn’t a strong enough word for how I feel about 1000 emails asking me to congratulate someone on something they could care less about. It’s a total data mine and 99% of the recruiters I get are AI bot driven anyway.

I deleted mine about 10 years ago like others for the same reasons. The only thing I missed was Marketplace, Craigslist is definitely losing ground to FB. I just created a fake profile to see Marketplace.
