Looking at swapping my fridge- Anyone know anything about ICECO Fridges and their reliability?

I have a National Luna Legacy 50L Dual zone I bought about 5 years ago when the larger family traveled with me. I wanted top of the line and quality. Problem is its two big for just me and even if I had two people. I always have to fill it up with water bottles so it doesnt work so hard.

So looking to swap for a fridge that better fits my application of mostly just me

This dual zone would be the right size for me. It doesnt come with baskets, but that is solvable

I don't know anything about ICECO. The compressor relaibility would be key. The reviews I read said the aluminum was easy to ding. This would be strapped down in my 200 so not that concerned with the outside being nicked

The side door has easier access but the cons Tim points out. They also have a smaller size without the side door

I have a smaller JP model that's worked well for me on individual trips up to 5 days. Its very efficient and keeps stuff cold. I probably have 6 months of run time on it, we bought it in 2021. permanently mounted in my camper. It has been flawless and we love it. But a buddy downsized from a bigger dometic and with a kid now we needed a little more space.

I'd hands down get another iceco. I haven't kept up on their prices but it was very reasonably priced when I bought it 6 years ago.

Not to derail the conversation about the ICECO fridges, but I just picked up a new fridge/freezer from Travoca. I stumbled upon them via the interwebs or Overland Journal or something.

I picked up a Rigel 35 liter during their Labor Day sale, which I believe is still going on. I have not used it yet but will take it on its maiden voyage on the Dino Run next weekend.



Dual Zone, Bluetooth, vacuum panel insulation, and the lid opens both ways.

I've been using the ICECO 45 for over 4 years now and it;s a great fridge. No complaints. In addition to the lid I like that there are 2 options for 12v power input on the front and back. The old ARB I used before didn't have the options.

It seemed to struggle on the 100 degree trips so I think I'm gonna get the insulated jacket for next year.

I’ve got a 60 liter dual ICECO in my trailer. It came with it. Works fine. More power hungry than my Engle or National Luna. My only complaint is that the compartment liners are not a single piece of material. There is a seam where the bottom meets the sides of the fridge compartments. When you spill something inside it can leak into that seam and form mold where you’ll never clean it out. Mine is 4 years old. Don’t know if they’ve changed the design. But I would not buy another one if not. Or any other fridge with the same problem. I regret not caulking it when I first got it. Maybe that would have solved the issue.

Marianne has a little 30 liter Indel B fridge in her Outback that Equipt used to sell. I don’t see them on Paul’s website anymore. It’s been a great little fridge. 10+ years old now with no issues. Easy to clean. It’s on an ignition hot circuit so constantly cycling hard to catch up.

Side note, Ken if you want to part ways with the NL50 I could be interested.

yes, on the one without the side door, and I have put a little bead of silicone there, just in case. I also now put a paper towel underneath the baskets which catch any drips or condensation. But it's a plastic insert on the one with the side door, no cracks.

It looks like the ICECO uses the same Compressor as the ARB, Engle and Dometic use the SECOP compressor formerly Danfoss

It has the same lid flexibility that @nakman lists as a plus. It will be much easier for me to get in and out of and more in tune with the size I need

I did go through a bunch of reviews until one captured a drain plug at the bottom. The outside being Aluminum dings, but the inside you can also see dings, there are no baskets to protect it and that is more concerning.

I have had a Dual zone in the NL fridge and haven't used it much if at all

You can see it isnt the same material as in the VL35PROs


Lot of these reviews sites, like the one I posted have 12% off on ICECOs web site. The fact they use the same compressor as many of the better known brands removes a lot of risk in my view.
