Engine bucking and surging started in moab, just once and it was fine for a few more months. The last few weeks it has gotten progressively worse and almost every time I drove it whether it was hot or cool temps. That told me it wasn't vapor lock. The carb bowl wasn't empty when i jumped out and looked but it was lower than the line. That threw me off a bit. I pulled the filter and tried to blow through it and seemed weak. Decided to look in the tank and you could see fine particles. I have the tank soaking in vinegar water solution that has dislodged a lot. I’ll do a thorough cleaning, or buy a new tank if it comes to that. I also plan to incorporate the old style glass bowl fuel filter to see if i solved the problem or it's persisting after cleaning the tank.

Wes, I had really good luck restoring a rusty fuel tank 7 years ago. I used electrolysis to remove the rust inside and then coated the inside with the por15 kit. Still looks great inside the tank!

I just wanted to put up a quick note to say that it’s been about a year since I got to meet Wes and Wyatt for the first time, and it’s getting close to a year since they bought the Colonel from me. I’m so happy with the decision to leave it in Wes and Wyatt’s capable hands, I’ve been so impressed with all of the updates, the detail, the problem solving, the purist upgrades and to see the rig out on a trail in Utah, that was the icing on the cake!

Thanks Wes for doing such a great job with this truck, I’m so stoked every time I see an update here, keep ‘em coming!

Thank You Ash for entrusting me with the 40. It's a peach and they are only original once. I was trying to figure out a way to bring it up by you.

He is almost done. I have a headliner to install and the hard top roof seal, and seat covers too.

The power steering is an OEM toyota fj40 box with OEM toyota ps pump. I just added the oem cooler line from classic tube. The engine is an 83 2f so it has the mounts for the PS Pump. How could I not add this :)
