I'm thinking of starting a youtube channel that just does Rig walk around of Land Cruisers and Toyota vehicles. I would focus on Rigs that are built and 90 percent complete. The idea of the channel would be just walk arounds of different people and different rigs. Would you like to do a walk around of your rig? Would you watch this kind of thing? I'd do everything from overland builds, mall crawlers, every day drivers, rock crawlers, so on and so forth. But I want to just focus on Toyota Rigs. Input wanted and if I could do your rig. Please share your input.

YouTube channels seem like throwing spaghetti against a wall and then seeing what sticks. Your idea sounds cool, but the audience is going to be pretty niche. I would watch this channel most likely. Would this just be a passion project or is there a goal in your mind with this? There is no shortage of cool trucks in the Denver area to start with.

Personally I'm not looking to make money from it. I think I would just enjoy doing it with people. I think a lot of good ideas of what you want to do to your rig come from other people. I watch a lot of stuff with Jeeps and always am a little envious of that. And while the Toyota community had some people on YouTube and Instagram, I've been rather disappointed with instead of just focusing on what brought me to them, they all monetized their influence and a lot of things are unknown. I can find a thousand walkarounds of Toyota 5th Gen Toyota 4runners, not nearly as many Toyota 3rdGen's and hardly anything before that. Guys like @DanTheMan that have recently thought long and hard about everything they went with on a 3rdGen Toyota 4runnerr and seeing you don't have to spend 40K on a vehicle and than 20K on upgrades. So this would be a passion project with the sole intention of just talking shop.

I agree that YT is saturated with the same content over and over. What I think has a small audience is talking about the why you went with Fox over ToyTec, why you chose the FJ80 over the FJ60. Why you sold you beloved FJ40 and bought a 3rdGen Taco.

What do you think?

People's Soviet Socialist Republic of California,
I thought about something similar to get a rig walk-around from people who are using amateur radios and other comms setups in their trucks. Turned out it was a lot of work and I never got it off the drawing board 🤪

I think you should absolutely do this man:thumb:

I think Rising Sun has some extremely unique, and interesting personalities. Just reading some member bios I think anyone can see the club, and its members have a rich history. One thing I think would be cool is if you were to do every single club- commander, and vice- commander (if possible), I am surprised at how far spanning this club is. Also a history of cruise Moab would be sick as well. I would be heckin' interested in some high quality content focused on some things like that.

I think the key is to be high quality, and really focus on the personalities, passions, and love for Toyota 4x4. All in all if you want to do this for yourself, and for the passion of it all, I think that is the best way you could do something.

What about incorporating this with a club run? Get some action shots while talking about the rig? Heck, even get the owner talking...

Seen a few "walk around" vids on youtub and well, there kinda boring

But like the concept!

I definitely know that this could be something that gets views. When I was asking what your goal was, I was thinking there are more to the perks that come from these channels than just money. Access to cool events and product launches spring to mind. I totally think this is something that would be cool to do. If Cruise Moab is rescheduled for the fall, you would have access to really fun trucks. As Perry said above, on group/club runs, you will have access to get some really good footage on the trails themselves. I say do it. If you find that you aren't enjoying it then what would you be out? Probably not much other than the time you invested.
