WTH has happened to the price of car batteries?

Keep all your rarely-driven trucks on a cheap trickle charger (Harbor Freight). I often get 7-10 years out of plow truck and farm tractor batteries that are 100% on a trickle charger when the implement isn't being driven. I buy a lot of blem and Walmart batteries, so they lifespan certainly isn't a function of spending a lot up front!

Yeah, my entire mini fleet each have their own storage chargers. The NoCo dual chargers are great for the RV and 60 with dual batteries.

I keep my 60 on a trickle charger. Battery is at least 7 years old. Never let them fully discharge.

Kind of a side question, but are Optima red top or yellow top batteries still worth it or is there a sealed battery that's around the same price and a better battery? I noticed a good amount of liquid coming out the lid things on top of my battery.

Optima is junk now days. Have been for 10+ years now.
Odyssey is what my racing friends use and they’re great batteries.

I paid full retail, just under $400 ea., for a second pair of Odysseys and they lasted exactly three years and one month - just out of warranty. The first pair they replaced lasted five years. I fastidiously followed Odyssey’s recommendations on keeping them alive.
