Going to be replacing the hose today and figured I'd do a quick sanity check. How much fluid will I lose if any by replacing this while engine is cold? Any? Gallon? - Trying to do it as lazy as possible.

A gallon would be a good estimate. Most FJ40s need a coolant change because you forgot how long it's been since you did one, so consider that ;-)

Actually made sure engine was cold and opened up radiator cap.

Had wife hold a mason jar under the lowest part of the upper hose (one that is rear heat exchanger) and may of had 1/4 cup if that. Easy change out.

Now I have to order the factory part and that is where your sage advice comes in SteveH - Full coolant change when I do all new hoses.

This was a "patch" for now as it was seeping and didn't want to have fluid everywhere.
