Everything I've ordered from Aus or South Africa had zero instructions or if they did, very poorly written. Those guys are just different. Lol.

Good day on the troopy, cut the roof off and dry fit the top. I am waiting on my sikaflex so i can seal it and bolt it down. The head room with the bed pushed up is great and I can go to the end of the isle on my build out and stand up fully. Betsie got a video of me cutting the roof off that I'll post latter.

The rep said to use 221 and I could not find that locally.

Alu-Cab has been making these for the troopy for quite some time and it fit like a glove. Though I will admit I made myself a 60mm and 70mm template to mark the cut line and then checked it like 4 times after I taped it out and then one more time before cutting it off this morning.

Looking good. Some questions: how much does the new top weigh? How is the cut edge treated once the top goes on? Is there a flange or trim of some kind? How is it bolted on and sealed?

I've always dreamed of a pop top troopy, 45 or 70 series. Enjoying your build.

The top weighs in around 275 #'s ( I used my 2 post lift and a couple of 2 x 4's to raise it up and then drove the truck under it). The cut edge will be treated with rust preventative paint and covered with a rubber seam cover like what covers the pinch welds on a door opening. They provide 6 brackets that bolt into the sides where the roof bows would be on a troopy. Sikaflex is used between the Alu-Cab lower skirt and the troopy body, the top is wetset in this and more will be applied to the outside where the panels meet. They also provide trim pieces for the interior to cover all of the mounting brackets. This also has a nice front overhead console wired to control the provided lights in the back of the truck. Other than the limited instructions I have been very impressed with this kit so far.

The Sikaflex showed up this afternoon so I glued the top on and clamped it in place. Tomorrow I can set my electrical section of my interior build and start the house wiring for the Troopy. We also ordered the covers for the benches in the back ( felt appropriate to go with lunar rock) and Betsie applied 3 coats of Poly to the butcher block countertop.

Man, I was pretty set on a 79 crew cab, but seeing troopies in person, and with an alucab. Has me reconsidering my next quarter life crisis.

Seems like the perfect size to take pretty much anywhere, while still having a bit of room.

Got the cabinetry installed today. Not doing the floor yet as I think I have tracked down some sliders for the back and I will need to pull out the dresser section to install them. This should be a hell of a nice camping rig when done. I am working to find a good solution for onboard water but trying to not cut something into the quaterpannel, says the guy who just cut the fing roof off. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Got the electrical all installed including the roof mounted 200W panel. The charge controller manages power from the solar as well as the alternator to keep the house battery charged. Also cut the flooring but won't glue it down until I fit out the onboard water solution. I ordered a Boondocker 14 gallon tank that takes the place of the spare tire. This will feed through a 3.0 GPM marine pump hidden in the rear quarter panel and out to a set of hidden quick connects for a sprayer hose and a fill port. Should have the pads for the benches in the next few weeks to finish off the interior.
