Nice work man, That thing is gonna be sweet.

I totally dig it.

Will a hood scoop from a later model 4-runner fit?

Maybe. I haven't decided how to do that part. I'm leaning toward cutting the hood along the "v" and just raising the center to cowl it. Anybody know good body guys? Seems all the ones I knew aren't in the business anymore.

Ok from the grave...

As most know the Blue Raja has been running quite well for the past 2 year with the 3.4 and SC. Yes it still has a hole in the hood. Here's a couple pics with the rooftop tent rack build and such

And now on to the suspension! Decided to go with the Chevy 63" springs. It is supposed to be a great mod for flex and ride. Here's a before pic:

Yea but, fabrication! And wife truck!

We will be keeping the blue truck as a DD and petrol powered, self propelled camping trailer. The Chili would be scary with the RTT on it. Ashley enjoys driving offroad so if she continues to enjoy it we'll keep the Raja. If not you'll probably see it up for sale on here.

I'm also using it as a trial run to modify the Chili's rear suspension. If this supplies good travel and stability on the Raja it will get copy/pasted onto the Chili.

Starting tear down. I had to cut off half my spring hanger to get the old leafs out and had to cut the u-bolts too. POIOIOING!!! That was exciting.

Following the web consensus I welded my front hangers 9" forward of factory

Replacing the nasty old bushings:

Took an air hammer and cutting wheels and one of those three armed press thingies to get it all done

Hung the springs and they were 3" too far back. Dang internets always lying.

So I cut it all off moved it way up got everything all welded in place. And here's how it looked

I decided to go with ball joint spacers in front for now, so upper a-arm grinding begins

And here's the stance so far:

Looks great so far!

How much did you have to pay that professional photographer to take all those pictures of you?:hill:

Got more done on the truck. Shocks all welded in and front put together. The rear brakes are super spongy still so bleeding is a must and an alignment is as well. BUT it's drivable so Travis and I flexed it out:

With the RTT on it I will probably get waaaay more flex.

Justin, what are you running in the front of that for an idler arm and lower a-arm brace?

If you don't have any, I have an old school NWOR idler arm brace and Sonoran Steel rear arm brace sitting in my garage that I need to get rid of. I had the brace on until I went 35's and upgraded to the TC arm.

I ask because the BJ spacers kill idlers quick offroad (only trashed 4 before I bought the brace :D ). The Brace combined with brass bushings is the best set up short of the TC arm.

I'd take some beers for em if you are interested, if you don't mind picking em up. I'd love to get them out of my garage.

I was going to go Total Chaos idler, but not for awhile yet. I will gladly take those off your hands. What's your pref in beer?

Happy camper IPA is always a plus! I'm out camping this weekend, but around the next. Give a ring when you want to meet up!
