Hi Folks,

As you may have read in my other thread, I'm considering parting with my beloved "clunker" which I've had for about 8 years. It developed a severe knock on a camping trip this summer, towed it home and it's been parked in the garage since. Will need to be towed.

It bought it from Oleg, who did some repairs on it after a front-end collision. It has a "rebuilt" title due to the accident, which required the grille and headlights to be replaced (Toyota in the front, Lexus in the back) and the front fenders painted (not sure if they were replaced or not). Funny enough, years later someone backed into me and ever so slightly tweaked the stock front bumper, which caused it to be totaled again. The insurance industry is comical. Frame is perfectly straight, body is straight. The hood is aftermarket not due to any accident, but because I cut up the stock one  Has ~337k on the odometer.

Some fun facts about my clunker:
  • factory lockers work, front axle job done about 10k ago
  • 315/75r16 Pro Comp ATII on stock wheels with lots of tread left. The wheels are beat up.
  • BIOR front tube bumper
  • TJM Progressive lift with a front spacer (about 3" lift with the amount of weight I carry, but sags with a load)
  • landtank 4" caster correction plates
  • DC front shaft, new Toyota rear shaft
  • Sway bar spacers, Delta panhard bracket
  • OME shocks in front, Fox in the rear
  • Random low-profile trailer hitch I got from Cruiser Outfitters
  • ALL suspension bushings have been replaced
  • Newer radiator, modified blue fan clutch, KOSO temp gauge (never seriously overheated, but got pretty warm back when it had the brass radiator)
  • Newer Magnaflow cats, passed emissions on last go'round
  • Paint job a few years ago. "Good from far, far from good" don't go to Maaco on Federal
  • Good windshield, front windows tinted to match the factory tint on the rest
  • Rust in the driver's side A-pillar, driver's rear wheel arch/dogleg and there might be some more hiding under the tupperware somewhere.
  • Interior: a couple cracks in the dash, front seats are hard and cracked, a few blemishes here and there, I've been told it smells like old man: 5/10
I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff. I'm honestly unsure if I even want to sell it and definitely wouldn't if it weren't for the engine mishap this summer, but I just don't think I have the time for a rebuild or swap, and it breaks my heart to watch it collect dust. Asking $5k? I figure that's about what it's worth in part-out money.

:edit: UPDATE - Discounted price of $4000 if you buy Doug's 1997 drivetrain. Full running locked 80 for a little over $5k!

I just saw someone posted an entire 96 driveline for $1500 in Texas. Throw something like that in and you have a great rig for cheap.

Don’t be afraid of the salvage title…mine has had one for 20 years :)

Seriously. 80s get totaled now for a dent in a quarter panel. Who cares!

Trying to take some today. I have to unbury it from some boxes and whatnot in the garage.

Bumping the thread with a promo deal

I'll take $4000 to anyone who purchases my 80 and Doug's 1997 drivetrain together. So that's a good working lifted locked 80 for a little over $5k!

Doug's listing:

This motor would have been the perfect solution for me, but the timing is wrong due to life circumstances.

Still working on photos.

The rusty spots:

A pillar (I'm guessing from a past poor windshield seal. This spot has been here since I bought the truck.

Driver's side rear dogleg/rocker. Looks like there is a little more under the rocker cover plastic.

Just an example of the condition of the wheels, they're beat but functional

Interior. I do have the 2nd row seats, they're just up on the shelf. I did not clean up the truck at all, this is basically coming straight home from a camping trip and unloading.

under. Some surface patina for sure, but everything is solid. Rear axle housing is obviously the worst (I-70 in the wintertime).

BTW, I do have the fairlead plate and stinger for the BIOR bumper. I asked Mike not to weld them on as I was planning on doing some bumper mods of my own.
